The comments are a hoot!

At any rate, just scaring Iranian military to not fight is better than having to kill them.

It’s called giving up their will to fight. The mullahs are crazy, just like the Japanese-took 2 bombs even though the fire bombing of Tokyo was more damaging. Hopefully Trump and Israel are softening up Iran in a way that will make it easier to take over once the dust settles. If there are too many crazies not dealt with the problem will continue.

I recall it was in one of the Gulf wars that Saddam's air force fled to Iran. I think Iran kept it.

You are correct. Brave Search turned up:

Saddam Hussein ordered the evacuation of much of the Iraqi Air Force to Iran during the early weeks of Operation Desert Storm in January 1991 to protect it from destruction by the U.S.-led coalition's air campaign.

The move was prompted by the near-total collapse of Iraq’s air defense and command structure, as coalition forces destroyed radar networks and hardened aircraft shelters using precision-guided bombs.

With no viable option to fight or hide effectively, Saddam opted to send the remaining advanced aircraft—including Su-24s, MiG-29s, Mirage F.1s, and Su-25s—to Iran, a former enemy now seen as a temporary neutral sanctuary.

Despite initial hopes that the aircraft would be returned after the war, Iran impounded the planes, citing unpaid war reparations from the Iran-Iraq War. Iran later integrated many into its own air force, including the 24 Su-24s and 4 MiG-29s, which remain in service.

Iraq never recovered the aircraft, and Saddam Hussein reportedly lamented in 2000 that Iran had become stronger because it now possessed part of his air force.

In 2003, during the U.S. invasion, Saddam chose not to send aircraft to Iran again, instead opting to bury them in the desert to hide them from coalition forces.

That last didn't work either. I always wondered, both times, why he didn't try Syria.

Looks like Trump and Hegseth scared their will to fight right out of them...and they don’t want to join the rest of the fleet as newly commissioned “submarines”...

Another captain realizes his ship is no match for the U.S. Navy and Air Force.

When the Air Force comes to the ship sinking party it.brings the pain.

A B1b can carry 24 two thousand pound internally and now that we put the pylon points back into service 6 of the original 8 are open for use they are 8000# capable each but you would use 30 inch lug MER racks for doubles or triples in each so 12 to 18 more tucked in conformal to the belly.

The Bone was originally designed to carry ALCM or Tomahawks on those 8 pylons in doubles for ALCM and triples for the narrower tomahawk cruise missiles there is a ASuW version of the tomahawk or was I think we turned them all into LASM versions after the cold war. Either way a single B1b could sink a smaller nations whole navy one 2000# quicksink breaks anything smaller than a super tanker in half 3000 tonne frigates are toasts even 12000 tonne cruisers are hammered in one shot. Of course if a ship is in port you just hole it with the JDAM version since it’s not moving no need for the seeker heads.

B52 carries 8 internal and 12 more external
B2 carries 16 internally

The Bone is peak cold war bomb truck it was originally designed to carry 125,000lbs of payload inside and on it’s 8 external hardpoints it scared the piss out of the Soviets.first thing they demanded at SALT was remove the B1B pylons and then in SALT II remove the nuclear PAL links and arming computers so it could not carry nukes at all. No surprise when it could carry 24 tomahawks drop those 1500 miles out , then penetrate with 16 SRAM in the front bomb bay and get to it’s cities with 8 more B43 crowd pleasers in the back bay. Yeah it made then pucker up real good.
