RFK Jr. Pushes Medical Schools to Expand Nutrition Education
The Floridian ^ | March 5th 2026 | JOSEPH QUESADA

Posted on 03/06/2026 11:58:11 AM PST by Jacquerie

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a new initiative on Mar. 5, 2026, to encourage medical schools to expand their nutrition education programs in the upcoming fall as part of an agreement with the Trump administration.

Secretary Kennedy and Education Secretary Linda McMahon reached the agreement as part of the Trump administration’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative.

Prior to the agreement, Secretary Kennedy spent months urging schools to expand their nutrition education programs, arguing that doctors are not well-versed in nutrition, which leads health professionals to treat chronic diseases with medication rather than preventing them through patients’ diets.

A senior official for the Department of Health and Human Services confirmed that 52 medical schools will voluntarily issue 40 hours of nutrition education or a 40-hour competency equivalent beginning in the fall of 2026.

The official also stated that the Trump administration will not prescribe a specific curriculum, instead providing a framework that schools can adjust from.

“Although groups might not agree with the specific characterizations we’re using, there’s wide agreement that doctors in medical school could have more curriculum in nutrition,” the official said.

"A lot of them didn't want to do it because they thought it was a Trump program," Kennedy said. "We've been able to convince them that there's no such thing as Republican children or Democratic children. We all want our kids to be healthy."

Doctors know they can’t change people.

In all honesty, 60+% of all diseases, as we now call them, stem from poor eating and exercise habits. There some who would get these conditions, due to genetic or situational things that occurred, but instead of drugging or operating, if we changed the core bad habit(s), we would prevent, delay, or reverse most health issues.

The answer is “us.”

Considering most of what you see in hospitals is due to poor diet and lifestyle decisions, I think this is great and LONG OVERDUE.

Garbage in, garbage health.

Dr. Casey Means should be confirmed as Surgeon General, stat. She taught MAHA to Bobby Kennedy.

And the fools pick at her because she had the wisdom to leave the corrupt medical industry that thrives on allowing people to make themselves sick and then pumping them full of pharmaceuticals.

And none of those will change their habits. Waste of doctors time.

It’s damn time for govt agencies to publish guidelines based on age, sex, body type and activity level.

It ought to be taught in 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th grades of every government school.

It’s a terrible idea to expand nutrition education, uh, indoctrination.
Nutrition is one of the worst pseudo science possible, after climate “science”. It has been the originator of inumerable abominations such as the food pyramid(s), the calories count, the fat phobia, the salt is bad, the meat causes cancer, the eat-less-meat-to-save-the-planet...
As long as the field of nutrition has not been burned to the ground, salted, sterilized and forbidden forever along with its evil twin epidemiology, to be replaced only by evidence-based physiology, having more of it can only produce more of what is already in store: bad health, preventable diseases and human misery.

Oh, stop being stupid, will you???
Doctors can change people just like parents, teachers, preachers or “persons of authority” can change people. Heck, even advertissments can change people, would you deny that?

Your opinions or habits come from somewhere, they don’t appear ex-nihilo. Are you so dense that such basic facts should be explained to you?

Please take a real class in medical pathology. You will be quite surprised to find out that many diseases have little to do with diet or lifestyle. Although you are correct that many of the patients in hospitals are there due to obesity, and uninformed life habits. Complication from diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, psychotropic drug use are pretty high on the list...if giving docs the tools and time to effect their patients helps, that would be fine...don’t count on it...most patients don’t listen till death comes a knockin’....freegards

Really! A few minutes a year with a doctor is going to change their habits?

No way.

People are not as dumb as you think they are.. I check Environmental Working Group for anything I want to add to my diet. Does it need to be organic? They’ve been around for decades,. I tell friends about it and Freepers like you. EWG.org

Also read books, and go to fab Natural Grocer where the employees are trained to be experts. They even hold classes there.

My latest question was about the PUR water filter attached to kitchen sink that daughter gave me for Christmas. Asked NatGroc employee where I could get water tested and she knew. Actually, the water in our town is horrible and we have lead in the pipes. I will NOT drink a single drop, only filtered water In gallon jugs I refilled at their store before I got this filter and will again if I need to. My CAT gets filtered water too, has every day for eight years, since I aopted her.

Prevention appeals to me far more than cures. Lot of people like me. I’m 89 and only took one prescription drug until last month when I had to spend several days in hospital with horrible Vertigo followed by two weeks in nursing home. Institutional food ALL has too much salt. Horrible for your heart. Threw out my salt shaker a long time ago and read labels like my life depends on it.

It does

-———————EWG-—————————

The science is clear: If we don’t reduce greenhouse gas emissions from food and farming, we can’t avoid the worst impacts of climate change. EWG is changing diets and changing policies to reduce the carbon footprint of our food. We’re translating climate science so consumers can understand the impact of their choices. We’re also advocating for reforming farm programs to help farmers reduce greenhouse gas emissions and withstand the extreme weather caused by climate change.

Oh I see, you use false premises, that’s why your conclusion is junk.
If you are not sick (it’s BY DEFINITION of someone who sees the doctor a few minutes a year) then you need no habit change.
But if you are sick, then you consult the doctor much more often and you listen to him (unless you are a dickhead, which not everybody is).

Look up carnivore doctors like Dr Unwin, Dr Baker, Dr Berry, Dr Westman... They have changed the diet and life of millions of people. Dr Ken Bery has several millions subscribers of his Youtube channel and you are claiming he changes nobody’s opinion? Give. me. a. break.
