President Donald Trump on Thursday brushed off Texas Attorney Gen. Ken Paxton’s insistence that he will stay in the Republican U.S. Senate race even if Trump endorses his rival, incumbent Sen. John Cornyn.

After Paxton said he won’t drop out of the May 26 runoff, the president reportedly suggested Paxton’s defiance could backfire by nudging him to support Cornyn.

My gut tells me that Trump is losing his way. He is way too comfortable palling around with deep state actors and endorsing deep state operators anymore. It has me super stressed.

I feel like its happening. I can already feel the tip of the knife in my back. I know the blood is about to start dripping. We are only some time away from the knife going in.

You can’t say to someone, “I think it’s better if you quit and give the job to someone better than you.” That’s essentially what’s going on. Imagine being on the receiving end. Even if you know that someone is better than you, it’s not in your interest to quit. It would be a big man who sees a bigger picture and admits that he should bow out and let the better man win. And it’s quite legitimate that you have your own opinion about who is better for the job. Also, if you do quit, your career is over. Trump’s best option is to work behind the scenes, in secret and accept whatever happens. Making it public guarantees failure.

Why with Paxton drop out? With picture of the boat and most of Huns he should be able to win easily right?

Paxton literally is willing to step down in exchange for helping Trump pass the Save Act. And Trump appears to be siding with that POS, cornhole, who is blocking it.

Whomever is advising Da Donalt is an idiot. And if Trump is listening to the RINO wormtongue, then so is he.

If Paxton stays in I think he’ll win even without Trump’s endorsement. And that will be good for Texas and for the country.

So, you think Trump should just support progressives? You believe that only Cornyn can win the general election? So, in Texas only a progressive Republican can win. Even a moderate Republican like Paxton is no longer electable in Texas?

Remember, Corning was in charge of the 2010 Senate campaign and he deliberately Spike three races so the Democrats could win and his buddy Harry Reid would be majority leader.

What’s that? George H.W.’s voice echoing from the past saying “Read my lips; no new taxes”?

President Trump, don’t help your fake-smiling enemies just to one day say “Et tu?”.

The thought of DJT going to bat for Cornyn and trashing Paxton is nauseating.

If Paxton stays in, get used to saying “Senator Talarico.”

The best possible outcome is that Trump endorses Cornball, gets the SAVE Act passed, and then Paxton wins the primary and the general.

Paxton will still be a senator after Trump is gone. Time to start planning for the post-Trump world now.

I pick a candidate to vote for based on their conservative record or, if they don’t have a record, their platform, not endorsements. We need a solid conservative in the Senate seat like Paxton, not another Mitch McConnell type like Cornyn.

Trump is using this BS as cover. He knows we all hate Cornyn who he intends to endorse and he won’t get a damn thing for it. This “defiance” line is just insulting. We know damn well Cornyn wouldn’t drop out if Trump did the right thing. Way to demoralize the base President Trump.
