President Donald Trump on Wednesday rated the US performance in the war with Iran as a 15 on a scale of 10, saying the Islamic republic’s leaders were rapidly being killed, and vowing to push on.
Trump’s comments came as the conflict expanded on its fifth day, with a US submarine sinking an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka and fresh blasts across the Middle East.
“We’re doing well on the war front, to put it mildly. Somebody said on a scale of 10, where would you rate it? I said about a 15,” Trump told a gathering of tech bosses at the White House.
“We’re in a very strong position now, and their leadership is just rapidly going. Everybody that seems to want to be a leader, they end up dead.”
Trump added that Tehran’s arsenal of ballistic missiles was being “wiped out rapidly.”
He repeated his justifications for attacking Iran, saying Tehran was on its way to obtaining a nuclear weapon.
“When crazy people have nuclear weapons, bad things happen,” Trump added.
The US leader pledged that he would “continue forward” with the joint air campaign with Israel that has already slain Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei on its opening day on Saturday.
Trump’s administration has faced criticism after days of mixed messages about the rationale for the war, given the Republican’s previous campaign boasts about starting “no new wars.”
He has yet to spell out his plan for what happens after the war or to say whether he wants a wholesale change in Iran’s government, or to work with remnants who would deal with Washington.

Challenge accepted:
1) “I’m not going to start wars, I’m going to stop wars...” - Iran started war with the US (great satan) and the west 47 years ago. We just decided to stop it.
2) “We must abandon the failed policy of nation building and regime change...” - We are not installing a new government. That will be left to the people of Iran. We are just neutering the countries offensive and nuclear capabilities, and killing the murderous leaders.
3) “Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images. Obliteration is an accurate term!” - All still very accurate.
Not once during his first term in office did Trump state, tweet, or publish any statement that Iran was at war with the United States.
Parroting talking points is weak. Don’t be a parrot.

The CIA helped identify a gathering of Iran’s top leaders in Tehran, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, before Israel carried out a strike that killed him and other senior officials, The New York Times reported.
Citing people familiar with the operation and officials briefed on the intelligence, the newspaper said the agency had tracked Khamenei for months and passed “high fidelity” intelligence on his location to Israel ahead of the attack.
According to the report, US and Israeli officials adjusted the timing of their planned strike to take advantage of intelligence that senior political and military figures would gather Saturday morning at a leadership compound housing the offices of the supreme leader, the presidency and the Supreme National Security Council.
Israel had assessed that those present would include Mohammad Pakpour, commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh; Admiral Ali Shamkhani, head of the Military Council; Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force; and Deputy Intelligence Minister Mohammad Shirazi, among others.
The operation began around 8 a.m. Tehran time, when fighter jets took off armed with long-range precision munitions. About two hours later, in Tehran, missiles struck the compound.
An Israeli defense official said in a message reviewed by the newspaper that the Israeli strike was “carried out simultaneously at several locations in Tehran,” adding that Israel achieved “tactical surprise” despite Iranian preparations for war.
Iran’s state news agency IRNA confirmed on Sunday the deaths of some of the senior military figures Israel said it had killed, including Shamkhani, Pakpour, and Nasirzadeh.
