How Soft Persecution and Socialist Indoctrination Are Erasing America's Soul
Townhall ^ | February 15, 2026 | Virginia Prodan

The aggressive push for socialism in America is not just a policy debate. It is a direct assault on the American founding and the prosperity it created. Under the guise of “progress,” bloated liberals are imposing a compulsory, state-led ideology and economy that mirrors failed socialist experiments of the past.

In 1988, I escaped the crushing weight of communism in Romania, trading a life of state-mandated silence for the promise of American liberty. As a political refugee, America gave me the soil to rebuild my life from nothing. But today, America’s foundation is shaking. I look at the country that once stood as a beacon of freedom, and I no longer recognize its face.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Perhaps slightly surprising for Townhall, but the author goes on to vigorously connect the troubles in America with the decline of Christianity in our country. Good read.

There are competing pushes.

Some want communism.

But others want socialism. The main ones want progressivism though, and a continuation of the deep state/administrative state.

None of it bodes well for us though.

One of George Putnam’s favorite lines: the difference between communism and socialism is the difference between rape and seduction.

It is well written and a good cursory view of the problem.

This is why I try converting as many written books into audio books as I can. We need more efficiency on our conservative side.

It can't be that progressives have the advantage of making their information in multiple formats, and they give it away for free to each other. But we're charging each other and only making it available for people who read the pages. We need an advantage of our own. Books like this: (I am working on this one)

We have really dealt with socialism only!
Yes, Marx scientifically proved that socialism leads to communism, but communism was never really implemented anywhere on the Earth, save some communes or gulags.
The reason, it is absolutely against human nature, and so it will never be implemented.
As far as communism, what are we dealing it is a communist movement, people wanting to get to communism! Implementing dictatorship of proletariat, the first stage of Marx way to utopia. That why the party dictatorships, oppression, mass murders, gulags, etc.
Socialists also want communism, but using humane ways.
None of them work!

The only difference between socialism and communism, is the flag.

And the push is for Communism, not Socialism.

That may be true among the rabble of useful idiots, but not the pushers.

Here is a little quote about the Spanish Civil War written in 1933 from Homage to Catalonia, by George Orwell:

In reality, it was the Communists above all others who prevented revolution in Spain. Later, when the Right Wing forces were in full control, the Communists showed themselves willing to go a great deal further than the Liberals in hunting down revolutionary leaders.

[Snip]

Between the Communists and those who claim to stand to the Left of them there is a real difference. The Communists hold that Fascism can be beaten by alliance with sections of the capitalist class (the Popular Front); their opponents hold that this maneuver simply gives Fascism new breeding-grounds. The question has got to be settled; to make the wrong decision may be to land ourselves in for centuries of semi-slavery.

Bet on the swamp. 90% of leftist ideologues are for sale.
The only question is the price...which is often a massaged ego ... and maybe a little material comfort.

I wish they were for sale. I’d love to purchase an abolished agency, but they’d never sell that at any price. For them the administrative state must be protected at all costs and there is no price.

But that’s bribery, yeah what’s a few years in jail for the correct outcome.

You’re going to come visit me in my cell and you’re going to ask me, “What are you doing in there??” and I’m going to ask you

“What are you doing out there?”

Thoreau was genius.

The surprise for me is followers of Siddharta Gautama are up 56%.

Hollywood and numerous celebrities have glorified the Buddhism celebration. I remember an Imperials song from 1980, “Oh Buddha,” that comes to me when I see a statue of Gautama.

About 25 years ago, I would visit a New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT—IKBU) temple (in an office building in a suite). I learned many came to it after being in Episcopalian (liberal Anglicans, read Frank Laisey’s “It’s Not About Sex” in relation to the Anglican Schism). They deny so much in that faith, I am not surprised they were moved into NKT Buddhism from there.

All they teach is happiness, nothing else.
