Republican candidates are beating Democratic counterparts in the Texas U.S. Senate race regardless of who de candidates are, according to a new poll.

The survey, conducted by the University of Houston's Hobby School of Public Affairs, showed that Republicans John Cornyn and Ken Paxton would beat their Democratic counterparts Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico regardless of the matchup.

Paxton would beat the two Democratic candidates by two percentage points. Cornyn would also beat Crockett by the same margin and would win a race against Talarico by a single percentage point.

This is highly disturbing to be so close.

Talarico is a nut. I saw a video of his “sit down” with Ezra Klein and how he stated that the Bible does not state that abortion and homosexuality are sins.

What a kook.

They tried hard and came close to turning Texas blue.

I think it's mostly because Ted Cruz is unpopular. I agree with him politically for most part. But personally? He's unlikable.

But Jasmine Crockett recently told MS NOW that Republicans would “absolutely” vote for her:

“Jasmine Crockett claims that some Republicans will ‘absolutely’ vote for her in the 2026 Texas Senate race.... “Oh, absolutely,” arguing that Republican voters are not looking for a ‘Republican lite’ candidate and that she has text messages from Republicans who say they will vote for her because they know who she is.

Crockett compared her appeal to Donald Trump’s support...and that she knows how to work across the aisle while standing firm on issues.”

Yeah, good luck with that, you’re gonn go down in flames - you can go cry with Stacy Abrams.

Ted Cruz is not on the ballot....if anyone truly thinks a Democrat is within one or two points statewide in Texas they are nuts. This state is INCREASINGLY red as red state voters leave their own states and move here. Trump won by only 5 points in 2020 but 14 points in 2024.

Ted Cruz is not on the ballot

Correct. Which is my point.

Of course, we didn't hear that from the biased media.

It would have been easy for them to do that part—due to Ted Cruz's lack of charisma.

Talarico worries me. There could be just enough stupid white women and low I.Q. Christians to push him over the top.

Yep, he fits the bill perfectly for a Demonicrat candidate.

This state is INCREASINGLY red as red state voters leave their own states and move here.

If they're leaving blue states their "conservatism" is likely tempered with a touch of liberalism. A "conservative" from Massachusetts is a liberal in Texas.

They may not vote Dem, but they'll definitely vote RINO.

“This is highly disturbing to be so close.”

You have found the key takeaway from the poll.

Texas was super-solid Republican at the statewide level from about 2006-2014. The 2024 blip to the right (Cruz’ mundane win excluded) notwithstanding, it’s still a lot more closely divided than the ostriches want to admit.

The notion that a couple of chumps like Holy James Talarico and Queen Latifah Crockett could even crack 45% in a general election should be ludicrous.

But the GOP candidates aren’t great either: “RINO Cornyn”, “Damaged Paxton” and “Wesley (Who?) Hunt”. Paxton is of course a great conservative and has been the best AG in the country. But you haven’t seen a negative campaign like the one coming up against Paxton if he wins the runoff in May (nobody is winning outright on the GOP side in March).

Hunt actually fares the best, so says this one poll anyway, against either of the 2 reprehensible Rats. Obviously that’s simply because nobody knows him. He’s actually a decent conservative with a fine background and would make at least as good a Senator as John Cornyn (not to damn Hunt with faint praise there).

The outcome of this Senate race will be much more similar to the one from 2018 (GOP by less than 5 but hopefully on the right side of 50%) than it will be to Trump’s 13-point win from 2024.

The best thing that could happen between now and then is for the Democrats to somehow find themselves in a runoff — it’s supposed to be THAT close all of a sudden on their side (probably it really isn’t). Force the 2 Rats to keep battering each other for 3 more months instead of training all their fire on the GOP. If one of them does win without a runoff — as is still quite likely — then whoever emerges will have a 3 month head start on the general election campaigning. The fact that they won’t know until late may exactly which Republican will be the nominee is irrelevant.

They always say it’s close, and then the Republican wins by 10 points.

The announcement that Huggie turd made that drove me crazy was when he announced that illegal alien babies are more patriotic than American kids. IMHO, The boy really needs to see a shrink and be pissed tested daily.

A good opportunity to vote in a black(Hunt) and show the rats who the real racists are. Unfortunately our primary voters blew it by avoiding Shannon(Ok.) in ‘14 and Herman Cain somewhere around in ‘06. We’ll do it again.

Hunt is younger and doesn’t hold the baggage of Paxton. Paxton is the message conservatives are sending to all the rinos out there. It’s a forest for the trees moment.

The Demonrats have a choice between Howdy Doody and Jazzy.
Both are idiots, but if they choose Howdy over Jazzy we can definitely throw the race card at them.f
