Top Virginia Democrats signaled Thursday that the party has agreed upon a new House map proposal that would give the party four pickup opportunities heading into November.
“We made a promise to level the playing field, and today we’re keeping our promise. Our maps are ready. Virginia’s ready. We said 10-1, and we meant it,” Virginia Senate President Pro Tem L. Louise Lucas (D) told reporters.
Virginia House Speaker Don Scott (D) said he expects the new proposal will be released either later Thursday or Friday.
Virginia Democrats had been mulling two different map proposals — one that would give the party a 10-1 edge in the congressional delegation and one that would give them a 9-2 edge. The state currently has a 6-5 Democratic edge.
Virginia represents one of the last chances for Democrats to redistrict ahead of the 2026 elections.

Thanks Indiana.
Well, a judge just ruled the process used was invalid - they need to start over and can’t make the change til after the election. And BTW, the Democrats are going to change 80% Rat districts to 55% Rat districts - VA has a history of objecting to tax increases - this could, in the end - work against them
GOP: "We like being losers."
Florida plans to redistrict netting the Republicans 4-5 more seats.
Waiting for this!!!
And Republican states meanwhile sit on their hands and wait for the massacre in November
The Republicans may be wiped out in the next election but hey, at least they will maintain their principles . . . . .
Is this a joke?
Rwanda is coming.
Funny thing — on the same page as that article is one titled:
“Florida voters sue DeSantis over redistricting push”
1. Where are “Virginia voters” who could be suing their state’s Democrats? Democrats are violating state law by trying to redistrict now.
2. OTOH, Florida is NOT violating any state law by doing what it — eventually — may get around to doing.
We’ll need to rely on judges to do the right thing (uh oh) in both cases.
“Well, a judge just ruled the process used was invalid”

That’s what I thought, too. Seems a little early to be crowing about ‘saving our democracy’ by locking up almost 90% of their districts as demoncrat...
I lived in NOVA for a time back in the late 90s and taxes were...onerous. I can’t imagine how bad it is now.
I have long tended to be a lenient and forgiving man, and wiling to bend a little.
But it is things like this that have finally tilted me toward wanting the Democratic Party to be exterminated thoroughly.
I thought they had to let people vote on this as a constitutional amendment?
To all of you Republican voters who stayed home because the Republican candidate didn’t pass your purity test, or maybe because you just couldn’t be bothered to vote in an off year election, this is on you.
Why would Virginians sue the Democrats? 57% voted for the new Democrat governor. (extreme sarcsasm)
Wow. I hope there are many more like you out there to join me after all this time.
When they worked to silence the opposition during 2020-2024, I was done with them. Ditto anyone who supported them.
Louise lucas has “wrecked” havoc on virgina ever since gerry mander puts in tha district their.
Time to sue for taxation without representation.
