A new poll shows 76% of Greenlanders say they wouldn’t benefit from becoming part of the U.S., noting their concerns about exchanging the Danish welfare system for American healthcare, elder care and education.
Only 3% of Greenlanders had a “very positive” view of U.S. government-provided benefits, while 59% held a mainly or very negative view of it, the poll shows. The U.S. has some of the highest healthcare costs in the world.
In a new survey conducted by Verian in Denmark for Berlingske and Sermitsiaq, Greenlanders are asked: "Do you want Greenland to leave Denmark and become part of the United States?"
The results show that 85% of Greenlanders do not want to leave the Realm and become part of the United States, while 6% want to leave the Danish Realm and become part of the United States, whereas the remaining 9% are undecided.
The survey also shows that 45% of Greenlanders do not want independence if the standard of living is negatively affected (either a slight or a more significant negative influence). Here, the uncertainty is +/- 4.4 percentage points. The survey also shows that a small majority agree or mostly agree that Denmark should continue to support Greenland financially, even if the country becomes independent.

Everybody wants free stuff.
Denmark wants Greenland, but doesn’t want to protect it.
Greenland people want welfare and free healthcare, and not industry or growth or jobs.
Trump wants Greenland to Protect NATO and the US, but doesn’t want a costly war.
So, they are grifters?
I wonder what the result would have been if they’d asked how many support Independence. We’ve been told that polls in recent years have shown that the majority would.
Denmark did provide free birth control.
Really? Is that all that is needed? If the US had a more generous Welfare State, they would trade their sovereignty????
Those people are idiots. They want free welfare, etc., they want someone to protect them, but they don’t want a large one-time payment for joining the US (which would produce income in excess of their welfare benefits) or the tons of high-paying jobs that would come from being a US territory. Morons would rather be serfs than free people standing on their own 2 feet - and they’re defense would STILL be paid for.
This is how Socialism - all Collectivist ideologies, really - rot your brain.
Give them $100,000 (US) and ask them again.

Easy solution. Just get the parts of Greenland that have no people, apart from the Thule air base. 98% of Greenland is uninhabited anyway.
That’s right.
And the Danes and Greenlanders will have only themselves to blame for their resulting predicament.
Trump got what he wanted. He didn’t really want Greenlanders. He just wanted to put bases on the island and Europe gave it to him.
If they were aware of all the freebies they are receiving (and would lose) from Denmark, they would quickly change their minds.
