Tesla has landed a massive deal to expand its charging infrastructure for heavy-duty electric trucks — and not just theirs, but all manufacturers.

Tesla entered an agreement with Pilot Travel Centers, the largest operator of travel centers in the United States. Tesla’s Semi Chargers, which are used to charge Class 8 electric trucks, will be responsible for providing energy to various vehicles from a variety of manufacturers.

The first sites are expected to open later this Summer, and will be built at select locations along I-5 and I-10, major routes for commercial vehicles and significant logistics companies. The chargers will be available in California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.

Each station will have between four and eight chargers, delivering up to 1.2 megawatts of power at each stall.

The project is the latest in Tesla’s plans to expand Semi Charging availability. The effort is being put forth to create more opportunities for the development of sustainable logistics.

Vehicles that run predictable routes are the best candidates for electric propulsion. My guess is that some truck routes might lower their costs with electric propulsion.

Short haul delivery is the market for electric trucks, and they will have recharging at their home depot.

The TESLA is in production in the Nevada plant that can produce 50,000 trucks per year. Presently hundreds are on the road in privete company fleets, DHL, and Sahia. Regarding Soccer moms, the best selling car model in the whole world in 2025 was a Tesla Model Y. It was second best to the Toyota RAV4 in 2024.

Musk's goal is critical mass.

When autodrive CCP tiny taxis from AutoX, Didi / GAC Aion, and Pony crash together in a flaming heap in front of Fisherman's Wharf, he'll move to have TrumpII suspend all imports of these confucian terror traps.

The electric vehicle grift continues. The idea that hiding the fossil fuels used to generate the electricity used to charge the car’s battery makes them any greener than my gas powered car is emperor’s new clothes level gaslighting.

PepsiCo Vice President Mike O’Connell stated that the Semis can haul Frito-Lay food products for around 425 miles (684 km), but for heavier loads of sodas, the trucks will make shorter trips of around 100 miles (160 km).

When electric semi’s are successfully working the ice roads up north then we’ll know these things can actually do the job. Until then, they are just an oddity.

Does each truck come with an INDUSTRIAL, Starship-sized fire extinguisher?

Interstate Hwy 80 in the Kalifornia Sierras was shut down for TWELVE HOURS by one of these EV semi fires.

It would be much more efficient to build trucks that run on Natural Gas. Just like many cities now have their bus fleet running on natural gas instead of diesel.

Especially IF those semi tractors are running a round trip load to and from their own distribution center like a Walmart. Fuel up at the distribution center with Natural gas. Haul the trailer to the Walmart store usually within a days drive from the DC. Pick up the empty trailer and return to the DC. This also could be done with Amazon vans/UPS vans and the USPS Jeeps.

We have more NG in the ground right here in the USA than OIL. Instead of burning gas to boil water. Turn a turbine to create electricity. Transmit that electricity to a charging station to charge a battery. Why not just burn the Natural Gas in the engine of the truck/van/etc?
