B-52s can’t be replaced ever. F-35s can be replaced - in five or ten years.

I spent 33 years as an engineer working on various line replaceable unit production programs, at various times for all of the various services. An LRU is usually a box that can be replaced on the line. Even with a full-up and running line it took months to years to produce a unit. If you suddenly had to surge production, it usually simply wasn’t possible. Even if my company had surge capacity, usually, the subcomponent suppliers either didn’t have the capacity or were otherwise fully engaged on other programs. After we won the cold war politicians were so eager to use the peace dividend to enhance their other spending programs that almost all the spare capacity was closed down and sold off. Often times we’d go back to buy something we suddenly needed only to find the company that built it had gone out of business with their tooling long ago scrapped. Several years ago, I read that it took five years to produce an F-15 after the first two parts were assembled. This was when the production line was at its optimum. If we get into a war clueless politicians assume we could just turn on the tap and produce whatever we want in whatever quantities. Not even close. If a war starts, we’re stuck with whatever is left over after the first strike.
A brief report card of the rulers of Iran:

- Suicide bombed US Marine barracks in Beirut
- Suicide bombed USS Cole
- Suicide bombed Khobar towers, which housed US military
- Killed scores of US servicemen in Iraq
- Funded Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hashd-Al Shaabi
- Bombed the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires
- Have sent assassins all over the world, tasked with killing Jews, dissidents, and Americans
- Funded “cultural centers”, professional protesters, lobbyists, media, politicians and college professors all over the Western World
Too many presidents kicked the can down the road, or even funded them (”ahem - Obama”) making the rulers of Iran stronger by the year.
This will be painful. But it needs to be done. They are weaker now than they have ever been. Rip off the band aid, 47. It will hurt a little, but the world will be a far better place
