Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Incredible actions by this brave man, thanks for honoring tonight’s Hero, Kathy!
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...hope you are staying warm and out of the bad weather.
I did a lot of shoveling today, but it all filled up with more snow, so that’s on the agenda for tomorrow.
But now...I’m exhausted, so I’m hitting the sack.

Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
THANK YOU
for your service!

~ Hall of Heroes: MAJ Louis Cukela ~

The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.

Howdy, Kathy.
Hope you got plenty of R&R this weekend. Too cold to get out and about to do stuff so a good time to just chill. :-)
Good night and rest well...be careful shoveling.
Kathy, thank you for letting us know about this amazing man, he was definitely a hero of heroes. What an amazing military career this gentleman had!
Good evening, Pro...a hero to be remembered.
How does one wear two Medals of Honor? On the same ribbon?
Good evening, radu...good to see you still have power. What a few days it has been for you.
My phone says more snow....
Good evening, wjcsux...glad you enjoyed his story.
Good evening, decal...
Medal of Honor (Navy); Medal of Honor (Army)....maybe?
It’s good to HAVE power! LOL Thousands of people across TN aren’t so lucky tonight.
I prayed all week for a miracle and got it. It warmed up and stayed warm last night, giving us rain instead of frozen precip. By the time the temps started dropping this afternoon, the rain was long gone. Not going anywhere for a while, though, because 2.5 inches if rain left the roads soaked and they’re glazed with black ice now.
There are storm systems in just about every direction from Anchorage right now. Distant, but out there. The one up north looks like it’s heading for you. :-(
No surprise more snow would be in the picture. They just groomed the snow on Lake Hood last night and today after a plane crashed last night. Every time they groom, more snow moves in. *sigh*
“...Born at Sabenes, Austria...”
“...born at Spalato, Crotia...”
-
Major Cukela was such a man he had to be born twice!
Howdy, PRO.
Everything good up your way, other than cold?
Still in good shape here, so far, though a LOT of folks across the state aren’t.
I must admit I did absolutely nothing over the weekend.
You didn't get any of the winter storm or lose power like many did?

Sgt. Louis Cukela
Born: Sabenes, Austria, on May 1, 1888
Double Medal of Honor recipient
Army and Navy
For the same action in World War I.
Serving at the time as Sergeant, 66th Company,
5th Marine Regiment at Villers-Cotterets, France.
Last double recipient to die on March 19, 1956
At the Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Maryland, March 19. 1956.
What a hero...what a story he has!
