President Trump appeared on Saturday to walk back comments he made earlier in the week, suggesting non-U.S. troops in NATO avoided the front lines in Afghanistan, following widespread anger from British political leaders and military families.
“The GREAT and very BRAVE soldiers of the United Kingdom will always be with the United States of America! In Afghanistan, 457 died, many were badly injured, and they were among the greatest of all warriors. It’s a bond too strong to ever be broken. The U.K. Military, with tremendous Heart and Soul, is second to none (except for the U.S.A.!). We love you all, and always will!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Thank you very much and God bless you,

Today, he has apologized, and I welcome that. It shows that Trump is a man of honor, and we can now turn the page on this incident.
Thank you President Trump!
Beyond the many casualties the UK had to endure, for the record, 700 French troops were seriously wounded and 90 were killed by the Taliban.
Denmark lost 44 soldiers and, relative to its population, paid the highest price of any NATO country. Many other NATO allies also suffered heavy losses.
That was NATO’s contribution after Article 5 was invoked by the USA.
Put some ice on that.
Pull your head out of your ass
I wouldn’t call it an apology
I think the President may have been mistakenly thinking of the Iraq war where some NATO allies did not offer military engagement but did give some material support. The situation in Afghanistan was different and combatants shared the burden more equally.
In general terms the President needs to step back from the bully pulpit for a while and fix up his own country as he said he would do, rather than offering everyone else in the world free lessons on what to do. He is President of the United States, not the world. You wouldn’t like it if our leaders offered you advice on how to end school shootings, how to deal with the migrants more humanely, or how to interpret basic climate statistics and immunize children against measles. I’m sure you would be angry as hell if mere aliens told you what to do. But that day is coming if he doesn’t back off the lecturing and shaming routine. People are sick and tired of it and what’s probably most relevant, you’ll lose the 2028 election because of it.
Glad he apologized. It was the right thing to do, and I commend him for it. As I wrote yesterday, Starmer being an ass doesn’t change the fact that the UK military stepped up and fought (and died) by our side in Afghanistan. Both UK and Denmark sent forces similar to the US in proportion to their populations, and they fought in one of the most difficult areas, Helmland Province.
::...it marked my first criticism of President Trump.::

Uh-huh....
He was talking about their military men
Not their feminist socialist govt orwellian dictators
Well stated.
Good move by the President. I know he doesn’t like to apologize, and that’s to some extent a negotiating tactic, but it was the right thing to do.
He didn’t apologize, he simply praised the UK troops. There is no chance that he would use the word apologize or sorry.

It’s a genuine apology, backed by praise. That’s how an apology should be made.
Its AOL “news”
It can be ignored.

9/11 was almost 25 years ago. Europe has changed tremendously over the past 10 years. Do you think the European countries would have helped us out in the last five years?
Ditto Canada. They were will to persecute their own truckers.
We were allied with Italy and Germany during WWI. Then we fought them during WWII.
Europe was still Europe 25 years ago.
Today? The UK, France, Belgium, Sweden and Germany are all becoming Islamic so they are no longer our friends.

If Article 5 is invoked, Nato nations join the battle. Thats the way it was, the way it is now and how it will continue to be in the future.
Law And Order. Peace Through Strength.
We were allied with Germany in WWI?
That’s interesting !
‘ We were allied with Italy and Germany during WWI.’
Um….
And the mayor of New York is an Islamic Communist...
Many American campuses and universities are now run by pro-palestine organizations...
The Islamization of America has begun as well.
