President Donald Trump said Wednesday he would not use force to acquire Greenland, the first time he has ruled out using military action to acquire the territory.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump lamented that the United States “probably won't get anything unless I decide to use excessive strength and force, where we would be, frankly, unstoppable.”
“But I won't do that,” he added. “That's probably the biggest statement I made, because people thought I would use force. I don't have to use force. I don't want to use force. I won't use force.”

Just “the art of the deal”.
Equally, this is the time for Denmark, and NATO generally, to accommodate every build-out the US wants to make in Greenland for the defense of the United States, Canada, Denmark and the rest of NATO. In other words, give Trump what he wants, short of ownership, which he was always entitled to, thus permitting Trump to save face, even as we Freepers always believed it could and would be resolved.
Let's give Trump space to actually live up to his promise made in this speech promising he would be there and the US would be there to defend the nations of NATO when needed. We might yet be able to celebrate this fiasco as a win-win for America and Europe and for the survival of NATO.
This was definitely a staged thread to invoke TDS.

Last night I watched the Mark Carney speech on youtube and went to the comments.... hundreds and hundreds (perhaps thousands by now) of the most fawning, oleaginous praise that one could imagine with nothing substantive to say.... just repetitive junk like “Now that’s what a statesman looks like!” and “I’m moving to Canada!” I don’t think I ran into one comment that was even an iota negative. After just a handful of comments, it became clear that these were all generated by the same group.... and in the end they had nothing to do with Carney but were just a bunch of TDS nonsense.
Mark Carney should think before he speaks, as President Trump scolded.
Offered 700 Billion or not - you make a good point.
The US has militarily protected Greenland since World War II.
We still have Pituffik Space Base (Thule Air Base) and there is no reason why additional peacekeeping forces could not be directed there.
What I love about FR is this kind of folksy wisdom that just gets to the heart of the matter without a lot of PhD level bloviating nuance.
Why not buy Greenland. Few people realize that we bought the US Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917.
WHats a little more cash in their pockets going to mean to the Danish socialists anyway.... a few more condos on the Spanish Riviera. They have repeatedly abandoned, ignored or persecuted the Greenland Inuit for generations anyway. The US purchase of Greenland will liberate the native population and bring them great economic prosperity.
Use force? Why not. It would be faster and cheaper.
THe MSM propaganda about how the locals all do not want the USA in Greenland is so false.
Many locals want to live under US governance:
Greenland chooses pro-business, independence parties in potential boost for Trump

Even fewer people know we bought Epstein's island from Denmark.
“Congress will never appropriate the money.”
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner…..
And the current Senate (2/3rds) would never ratify a treaty to buy Greenland.
You’re a f’n idiot. Trump never said he was going to invade Greenland. You made that up.
You make a good point, too. Now just for fun: we really, really need Pituffik Space Base (also a NORAD base) for our Santa Tracker! (Yeah, I’m a sentimental softie who loves me some Santa Tracker.)
Great! Wish he would have said it at the outset to limit the distractions, but at least he’s done it now.
He previously said it was one option.
With all due respect, Nathan, you are oblivious to what you just witnessed. You just observed Trump closing the deal he always intended to make. Do you think invading Greenland was Trump’s ultimate objective or do you think acquiring Greenland was? I doubt Trump was ever serious about invading to begin with, but even if he was, it was only as a means to an end. If he can achieve that end through negotiations instead, then all the better.
Trump is going to get exactly what he wanted. Any objective observer would call that a victory. Yet you have no idea how and why it happened. Is it just possible that talk of invasion was Trump’s way of getting Europe’s attention and perhaps putting a bit of fear into their minds so that they would be all to eager to negotiate a deal once he took invasion off the table? Of course it is.
I have all kinds of options in my daily life. I could rob a bank, seduce a woman (ha ha, not willingly), win the lottery.... But none of those options is a choice I’ve actually made.
And you look like a severely antiquated fool with your slavish devotion to Nathan Bedford Forrest, who's been dead 149 years. Although he did clean up his act in his later years, he has the distinction of having been elected the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan in 1867. Some hero you got there.
Trump just smoked them out. Now we know who are NOT our allies:
The UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands and Denmark.
They expressly said they would raise arms against the USA to defend Greenland.
So when it comes time to defend someone, they would go to the bottom of the list, or not at all.
With all the U.S. Navy Veteran “combat” Bimbos who are being elected to DemonRAT governorships, Trump needs to form them into a Cookie unit that can take Greenland.
It’s funny he even had to say that. He loves tweaking liberals.
“You just observed Trump closing the deal he always intended to make.”
Can you please explain what deal he just closed?
