Dozens of Republicans joined all voting Democrats on Wednesday evening to reject a GOP-led effort to eliminate federal funding for a nonprofit organization accused of bias against conservatives.
Lawmakers voted 127 to 291 to strip $315 billion in funding for the State Department’s democracy promotion programs, including the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), out of a government funding package, falling well short of a majority. Republican Arizona Rep. Eli Crane, who offered the amendment, argued that although NED has the ostensible goal of promoting democracy, the organization has repeatedly promoted “anti-American objectives” and undermined freedom of speech.

DEMOCRATS are LAWLESS because REPUBLICANS are BALLLESS!
“Democracy” as it applies to the National Endowment for Democracy, is a much overrated virtue, especially in the way it is defined by the leftists in the Deep State, who have be twisting meanings and intentions in a most convoluted manner for years.
What we have here is a failure to communicate. There can be no agreement on the meaning of various terms, allowing the leftists to keep dodging around when it comes to any dialogue to resolve differences. The explanation there is that they would rather have the issue than any resolution.
We need to know the names of the 81
Oh c’mon. $315 billion? The state dept total even 5% of the total budget?
Nobody bothers to even read or understand why they are writing about. What a stupid article. Rubio gets to spend the money anyway, let him spend it on truly America first priority. Yes they shouldn’t be voting with dems but there is obviously something more than what’s written, especially given the brains of the author.
The uniparty strikes again.
My guess is a lot of “R’s” are recipients of under-the-table contributions from these orgs.
I know it’s contrary to the rules on FR, but billion is obviously a typo; elsewhere in the article it cites $315 million.
And yes, the 81 Rhinos need to be named and outed.

I DID NOT VOTE FOR THIS
The organizing principle of the uniparty.
Gubmint operates for the benefit of those who operate it.
It’s that simple.
Mike “I love black boys and my wife loves them even more” Johnson at work again…
Whenever you see or hear the words democracy or democrat just switch the word to communist or commie, and you know what the song says about commies right?
CRIMINALS, all of them.
“In Ukraine, democracy programs helped document Russian war crimes against women and children. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, they fight corruption and strengthen the rule of law. In Pakistan, they promote religious tolerance and protect minority communities,” Democratic Florida Rep. Lois Frankel said during floor debate.
“These investments are not charity. They’re prevention,” Frankel continued, adding that NED’s investments reduce the likelihood of conflicts that could force U.S. intervention.
Note how the defender asserts unquantifiable goals: “help document”; “fight”, “strengthen”, “promote”. How effective was the spending? Who could possibly know? War rages on in Ukraine; religious tolerance has not broken out in Pakistan; corruption in the Congo is impossible for us to effect, except to increase it with our funds.
Sounds like $315 million went for unmeasurable bs and overhead with NO RESULTS WHATSOEVER. Rubio might better control the waste, but this needs killed NOW or it will live on forever. At least cut the funding substantially, restrict the uses, and require clear measurable results.
This is becoming typical of the Admin’s inability to deliver. Campaign promises are made, ExecOrders are signed with great fanfare, then the idea is dropped at the execution stage in Congress.
This is the fault of the GOP — of traitors who take foreign $$.
Of course they did.
Like playing Russian roulette backwards. Fully load the revolver, remove one cartridge, spin cylinder, put barrel to temple, pull . . .
Those 81 GOP’ers are terrified of their office being inundated with legions of bored ignorant blue haired women fighting for this because “democracy” is in the title.
Agree.
Disgusting. No wonder Republicans can’t get elected in the mid-terms and special elections! They are so wishy washy that you can’t count on them to support the conservative agenda. I believe a lot of them are closet Democrats. Period.
