Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will meet US President Donald Trump in Florida at the weekend, as talks continue on ending Russia's full-scale war.
Zelensky said he expected the meeting to take place on Sunday and to focus on a US-brokered 20-point peace plan, as well as separate proposals for US security guarantees.
However, in a sign of the gulf between Moscow and Kyiv, a senior Russian official said that plan was "radically different" to the one it was negotiating with Washington.
Russia has spoken of "slow but steady progress" in talks but has not commented on Zelensky's offer to withdraw troops from the eastern Donbas, if Russia pulls back too.
Ukraine has sought to secure guarantees from the US as part of a deal, and Zelensky has suggested that a demilitarised "free economic zone" is a potential option for areas of Donbas that Russia has failed to take by force.
On Friday, Zelensky told reporters that the 20-point plan was 90% complete: "Our task is to make sure everything is 100% ready."
He wrote on social media: "We are not losing a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump in the near future. A lot can be decided before the new year."
President Vladimir Putin's senior aides have held further talks with US officials over the phone, after Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev returned from a meeting in Florida last weekend.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov was positive about latest developments, but accused Ukraine of trying to "torpedo" talks on the US plan.

If both parties can come to an agreement and stop the slaughter, I would be willing to let him save some face in exchange. Free elections in Ukraine at the minimum would be part of the agreement.
I don’t think Trump invited this duplicitous turd. I think he invited himself after colluding with the goofy Euros and Starmer.

Again, partition Far East Ukraine vs West Ukraine with a DMZ called Far Eastern Ukraine [FEUk].Russia will have to pacify / de-mine FEUk. In the final agreement, Putin will also have to deal with a 680-mile tripwire full of blue helmets.
Zelensky departs for Dubai, and General Zaluzhny gets the caretaker government for 2026 elections. Putin attempts to pick a successor, but wait!
Instead, the FEUk DMZ rapidly draws the UN -- and by proxy the EU -- into direct conflict with FEUk's Putin apparatchiks.
The middle part of that line -- full of blue helmets -- will be impossible to hold, shot at from both sides.
We can pop the popcorn and watch the thermbarics drop live on Fox all over the FEUk. Putin can put another generation of New Soviets through the meat grinder, while every Leftist government in the EU is overthrown by young draft-generation supplicants, and mooseslimes.
Frankly, there's a lot to like in there.
Yesterday, Z was hinting darkly of waiting until Trump died to get what he wants. Now, just thinking about the connection between the golf course shooter’s role as recruiter for Ukraine...yeah. I think Z would ‘help’ that along.
So, today everything is ‘rosey’ because he’s been summoned to Mar A Lago? Is someone going to point out to Z that his own people are against him and NATO is out of money?
