The US has approved a package of arms sales to Taiwan worth up to $11 billion — one of its biggest ever — a move that will likely draw a sharp response from Beijing.
The approvals announced late Wednesday by the State Department cover a broad range of equipment, including missiles, drones and artillery systems aimed at strengthening the democracy’s defenses. The package includes a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, valued at up to $4.05 billion, as well as self-propelled howitzers worth about

When is China not angry? WGAF?
As long as the arms in question do not require magnets then the sale might actually result in shipments.
I suspect most of them do require neodymium magnets and none will ship.
It won’t make a difference (unless it’s a nuke)..
They should have invested in their own defense - x1000 over the DECADES - of their own accord.
Yes! We can make Taiwan into another Ukraine! “To the last Taiwanese!”
“...approvals announced late Wednesday by the State Department”
Cankles is deeply saddened.
“This is tax money I don’t mind paying.”
As I read the article the U.S. is selling weapons, not giving them away at taxpayer expense.
Taiwan primarily faces airborne and amphibious assault risks.
I would think smart shell mortars, artillery & rockets, drones, anti-aircraft guns, Javelins and STOVL F-35Bs would be its top defense procurement needs.
Fully concur. WGAF.
If the racist Chinese commies aren’t mad, we’re doing something wrong.
Taiwan might also want to grow trees along roads so it can move troops around in safety.
Taiwan doesn’t really face anything.
Before there can be any actual engagement on Taiwan shores, the invaders will be repelled.
China lacks the means to do anything but harass and tht is not worth the cost or effort
The problem with an F35 in Taiwan is someone will get bribed and fly to China in it and turn it over.
What evidence do you have to support your suspicion?
L
The evidence that all electric motors require magnets. Particularly the ones that drive drone rotors, or those that move guidance fins on missiles.
China’s arms sales are way down maybe they wanted the sale ,LOL
Good, I’m angry with China for lying about their China Virus.
“ The evidence that all electric motors require magnets.”
So what evidence do you have that we won’t have the specific types of magnets needed for the weapons the Taiwanese are buying?
Please be specific.
L
We’ve been selling them arms for years. The media is just trying to rile everyone. That’s what they do.
All Taiwan has to do to forever protect itself is go out into the Pacific and touch off a nuke on some crab-infested little coral reef.
“There, we did it. We advertised we are gonna take no shitte from some mainland ‘tards. Now, pi$$ off.”
