Shackled Nick Reiner addresses judge as he appears in court wearing anti-suicide vest: Live updates
Daily Mail ^ | December 17, 2025 | Rachel Bowman

Nick Reiner made his first court appearance in Los Angeles today on homicide charges for his parents' double murder.

The 32-year-old was seen in jeans and an anti-suicide vest without a shirt underneath. He did not enter a plea and his arraignment has been continued until January 7.

When judge asked Reiner if he agreed to to waive his right to a speedy arraignment, he said: 'Yes, your honor.'

Nick's lawyer, Alan Jackson, made a statement to the public saying that there were 'very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case,' and asked that 'throughout this process you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward, not with a rush to judgment.'

Alan Jackson is a top celebrity attorney. He represented Harvey Weinstein, among other top celebrities.

Money is not an issue. He would do it for free for the publicity. Many attorneys would.

“In California, a “Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity” (NGI) plea uses the M’Naghten rule: the defendant must prove, by a preponderance of the evidence, that due to a mental disease/defect, they couldn’t understand the nature/quality of their act or couldn’t tell right from wrong at the time of the crime. Success means no prison, but commitment to a state mental hospital until deemed sane; it’s a difficult defense, requiring proof of mental illness at the time, not just general “craziness” or drug intoxication.”

I think Jackson will be successful. There are witnesses to his mental illness at Conan’s party right before the event.
Hader lucky he wasn’t killed.

this one is much different in that there is plenty of history and evidence to the mental illness even on the night in question.

I saw a claim where the siblings recently tried to get their parents to lock nick away because they were so scared.

nancy grace just said on dean cane show that Reiner is sane as evidenced by the fact that he took a good hot shower after the crime, then casually left the house.

Yup, that’s what we called a “Bam-Bam suit”. Incredibly tear proof. He gets a blanket and pillow made out of the same stuff.

I think it will be revealed the kid was neglected by the parents who were just too damn busy being rich and famous. That kids likely needed a whole lot of mom and dads attention and help. And I’m not talking about shipping the kid off to some rehab.

“drug intoxication.”

I am going to disagree with this part of the statement. This may be a novel defense IF Jackson can prove that Reiner had unknown P450 issues because none of his Doctor’s had tested him.

Inability to process drugs can cause great harm to a person and can cause drug intoxication.

One of the people involved with the autopsy of Elvis theorized that he had a genetic problem processing drugs.

There are more genes than just the “p450s” that can cause problems.

ABCB1 mutation affects my blood brain barrier just like it does in certain dogs and why you cant give them ivermectin.

This animal needs to be executed and it will never happen. There will be a big dog n pony show for the idiotic masses rather than removing permanently a deprived murderer. Just try and envision what this person did to his PARENTS up close with a knife repeatedly stabbing both of them. Kill him and never think of his sorry ass again.

Not if he was schizophrenic as has been rumored AND not if he had problems with genes that process drugs - especially those involved in medications he likely would have been prescribed.

It can lead to horrific side effects.

And as a side note for anyone who happens upon this thread that has had problems with MRI Contrast... Gadavist is predicted to a be p-glycoprotein substrate. You may have a problem with that gene. (chuck norris’ wife should check it out)

I will not defer to Nancy Grace on this. She may be right but taking a shower after you kill your parents doesn’t mean you werent insane when you committed the act. Prosecutor can use the actions to sway the jury but a parnoid schizophrenic that has a break from reality and kills someone who he thinks is trying to kill him etc...isnt negated just because he took a shower later to wash blood off of him.

I posted a video from youtube about what it is like to suffer from schizophrenia. In the clip it has a pizza guy delivering a pizza with the person thinking the pizza guy was going to get him.

The person could easily freak out and kill the pizza guy in “self defense”

And could just as easily go take a show and leave the house.

Only because the people in question have massive amounts of money (or stacks of cash that are vulnerable to acquisition).

Money makes the circus clowns dance, and if it wasn’t there - he’d be last weeks news.

The good news for the defendant is that the money of the people he murdered will pay for the best defense attorneys money can buy.

In an interview, both Rob and Michele Reiner expressed regret for believing the therapists who told them their son was lying and manipulating them.

I’d say those therapists have been proven right. To have done what he did, he must be a psychopath with no conscience.

That reminds me of an old case where a black guy drove several hundred miles and then broke into a house and killed some white folks.

He actually got off on an insanity defense even though he had to have some control over his faculties to drive that long distance.
