My jaw is literally dropping! Like we didn’t know this for years. The FBI does it too. When they aren’t arresting a white army guy because he had a cell phone.
Unlikely that this is limited to DC. Makes me shudder to think of what the true violent crime rate might be in red cities nationwide.
Chicago, for example, admitted to about 3,000 known shootings last year (2024), and, in 2025, is on track to be the national leader in known homicides for the 14th year in a row.
What if those admitted thousands of known shootings were just a fraction of the reality?
Is she the brainiac that did not know what chain of commands meant?
Whoops, I meant to write “blue” cities ... but, crime falsification probably takes place everywhere.
All agencies skew their stats based on what kind of budget/handouts they want or to say look we are doing good.
I often wonder how accurate some statistics are, either intentionally or because accurate data is hard to obtain.
IIRC...We know from the Treyvon Martin Case that they were falsifying records to make the department look good.
Now we know why she resigned.
They need to stop with the “shocking” and “jaw-dropping” in the headlines. Its not shocking at all. It has been happening ever since cities started publishing crime stats. Watch HBO’s The Wire for a tutorial on how big city mayors and police chiefs cook crime statistics for political reasons.
Any means short of arresting perps, that is.

Of course! And I bet that not only did they revise the COUNTS down, I would also bet that the RACE of the criminals were either “whitewashed” or removed from the reports.
Yup.
This goes on all over the country and it has for many years. I experienced it myself in the late 1980’s in Florida.
That was the school thaten.
And those homicide numbers would be higher but they classify some cases as Death Investigations, and when the year end totals come out, they aren't included. If they ever do get classified as homicides it could be years later, by then most have moved on and forgot about the previous totals, while they get quietly added to that years final totals.
