Rob Reiner, his wife Michele, and their son Nick attended Conan O'Brien's Christmas party Saturday night. At the party, Rob and Nick got into a "very loud argument," loud enough for many others to hear ... Reiner family sources tell TMZ. We're told Rob and Michele then left the party. We do not know if Nick left as well.
TMZ is the first to report the argument between Rob and Nick on the heels of the murders.
Our family sources add … Michele had been anguishing to friends over the last few months that she and Rob were at their wits' end over Nick's mental illness and alleged substance abuse issues, and did not know what to do with their son Nick … saying, "We've tried everything."
As you know ... the legendary actor-director and his wife were found in their L.A.-area house Sunday with their throats slit. Nick was arrested Monday morning.
.
He was as happy as Rosie O’Donnell and Alec Baldwin.
Pretty poor to publicly air out family issues on dead people, shame on those friends.
This is a horrible story. It includes parents doing everything to help their son.
Kids get hooked on drugs, and it is often a lifetime battle. Nick may have, instead, overdosed in some crack house or on the street, and the parents would have had a lifetime of grief.
The only thing I can think of that has any brightness to this (and not enough to overcome the darkness) is the parents don’t have to grief a deceased kid.
If everyone heard the argument, then SOMEONE must know the CONTENT of that argument.
So, what was it about?
Since a knife was used in the murder, will that crowd push legislation to ban knives?
Yikes... Poor Conan... Obviously he had near-zero to do with all the dysfunction going on with this Reiner crew, but nonetheless it’s a helluva thing that your Christmas party is proximate to a double-parricide.
It must be very hard to grow up in Hollywood, especially with radically leftist parents.
It’s such a permissive and degraded atmosphere. Temptations are everywhere, as are predators, fraudsters and demons of all kinds. One’s parents’ own ideology will not provide any boundaries. Indeed, their own lives are usually very bad examples. One’s parents have celebrity, but you have none, so constantly live in this shadow.
California has banned most knives for carry.
Seriously.
Why was the druggy invited to the party?
Was the argument about Trump?
People are trying to make sense out of this horror.
Condolences to family and friends of Rob and Michele.
Some fancy chef getting arrested in route to a gig when he is performing teppan.
“So, what was it about?”
My guess is money.
Someone going by the moniker “kathygriffin” said the son was schizophrenic
It fits
It's usually about nothing, or is inexplicable, or is simply another expression of a long-standing disagreement or feud with indeterminate backstory, with its roots in addition.
As such strangers or others usually can't understand it, or simply block it out.
A close relative of mine had an addicted adult child. I saw their arguments constantly. Was it about borrowing the car? Was it about them failing to make rent after having given them $1000? Was it about some perceived slight? Was it about their relationship with someone who was clearly bad for them? Was it about dealing with irresponsibility and self-destructive behavior for 15 years and reaching a boiling point? Was it about broken promises to stay in rehab?
Yes to all of the above.
Actually, it's really none of our business.......
Also, there’s always plenty of money to spend on whatever one wants, completing the so-called consequence-free environment.
Don’t give the enemedia any ideas. I’m surprised early coverage hasn’t claimed that he was seen fleeing the murder scene wearing a MAGA hat.
