"For a kid like me, achieving this, it’s a dream.” The Who's Roger Daltrey receives knighthood from Prince William at Windsor Castle

The Who's Roger Daltrey has been knighted for his services to charity and to music. The 81-year-old singer received his honour from the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle yesterday (December 10) and told the Press Association that he considered the award to be "an incredible honour".

"I was born in the Second World War and grew up in the streets in London," he said, "for a kid like me, achieving this, it's a dream.”

Daltrey was responsible for launching and curating the Teenage Cancer Trust's annual week of charity benefit shows at London's Royal Albert Hall: the initiative has raised more than £34 million for charity over the past 25 years, and the singer has described his stewardship of the long-running concert season as "an incredible ride."

Reflecting on his honour, Daltrey says, "For me, it's a double honour because I'm getting it for my work with Teenage Cancer Trust. So personally it's wonderful. But for Teenage Cancer Trust, I'm accepting it on behalf of all those people who may never get an honour and without whom we never would have made the success we have made of our charity. It's important to me that I make them realise they are really appreciated."

Interesting how the Brits have managed to keep a traditional reverence for the honor of knighthood intact.

Quite sad, actually. This coming from a bandmate of Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon, whose hearse was ordered to be towed by the Queen because it reminded her of the one that carried her husband.

The fee to get it out of impound far exceeded the value of the car. The "theft" by the Queen inspired Townshend to write "My Generation".

Fast forward to now and here's Roger Daltry taking a knee for a pat on the shoulder.

Why do men not shave any more? Not that long ago, it was considered slovenly and rude to appear in public without a clean shave. What happened?

Why wasnt he knighted with a saif? That’s what a caliphate tool should use.

I’m happy for him. Too bad the UK is imploding in real-time. I wonder if the future Islamic Caliphate of Britain will recognize his knighthood??

I’m not sure why.

The UK’s Deep State gives them out like candy.

And to some very nasty people.

I don’t get it either. Especially the blotchy beard look.

And before that, everyone had side whiskers and beards and the most marvelous mustaches. Facial hair is fashion. I love the variety of faces. Isn’t it more the bearing of the wearer and the way the facial hair is maintained that makes a man’s appearance dignified or slovenly?

Interesting, as Roger is known to have more conservative political views. In fact, his relationship with Pete Townshend, a very open leftist, is strained by their differences. Furthermore, Pete has not been knighted, even though he was the absolute core of The Who.

Congratulations. Roger Daltrey!

I like the sword that gave Daltrey knighthood much better than the sword that took Hugh Fitzcairn’s head.

It’s not just Prince William being unshaven. He doesn’t look well overall. Something’s going on there.

Good question. I’ve been wondering WHY myself. I’ve actually stopped watching some of my favorites on news shows because I can’t stand the beards they’re growing. Once someone starts it, every male falls into line and stops shaving.

Sad, but in the near future, in England, the easily enranged Islamic hordes will use those knightly swords for other purposes.
Just sayin’
IMHO
