President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said he was ready for elections, appearing to bow to pressure from President Donald Trump, who has been upping the pressure on Ukraine to hold a national vote during the war with Russia.
While there are serious challenges to holding elections in a country at war, Zelenskyy said that he was prepared to organize them as long as he got his parliament's OK and the U.S. and other allies helped ensure security.
“I am ready for elections; moreover, I am now asking — and I state this openly — for the United States to help me,” he said during a WhatsApp question-and-answer session with journalists.
If security is guaranteed, the elections could be held in the next 60-90 days as long as parliament prepares necessary legislation to enable the vote to occur during martial law, he said.

Hmmm... If Z is willing to put himself to a vote, consider me skeptical that the election is on the up and up.
Will the people in Russian occupied parts of Ukraine be allowed to vote?

Putin had already said he will have accomplished his goals within 2 months and it will be over.

Then stop signing State of Emergency extensions every 90 days. You’ve already signed 16 of them.
Zelensky, nor Ukraine is not worth putting one American Armed Forces member on the ground there.
He’s got all kinds of terms...and the council has to okay it...and they probably won’t....so he’s just playing games. Being President is the only card he has...and it’s the joker.
Of course he is ready. All of his opposition is either dead or living in another country. All opposition media was shut down at the beginning of the war.
Here is an idea. Let Russia agree to a 90 day full ceasefire to allow Ukraine to hold free and safe elections.
Not sure if the elections will be real if they do have them.
Ukraine is corrupt, they banned opposition parties, closed TV, print, and radio stations that say anything derogatory, even jail journalists if they dare say anything negative or won’t let them in the country etc. What sort of elections can you really have in such a system?
The real way folks should look at it is that of you have total control over the message and oppress all true political opposition, but STILL likely lag behind a rival, what does that actually say?
Analogy: Zelinskyy may lose a race against a one legged cripple who he got to choose to run against. That’s how awesomely popular he is.
Very SIMPLE, St Z is getting ready for his Mussolini moment, what do? Declare an election knowing he will be ousted, leave Ukraine for good for his mansions abroad…. avoiding the hanging on a lamppost if he didn’t hold elections.

Will Trump demand all of the money that Zelensky and his Ukrainian cronies have stolen from the US be returned? They would have to sell a few of their ill gotten mansions and vacation properties. Maybe Trump should work on getting all of the US Ukrainian money that Biden stole.
