For two decades, Muhammad Abdulrahman, 58, lived with his wife and his beehives on a remote hillside in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
But in May, Israeli settlers set up camp about 200 yards away and took control of the road leading to Mr. Abdulrahman’s home, blocking him from returning, he said. Israeli soldiers then evicted him and his wife, Suha Abdulrahman, the couple said.
The Israeli military said that Mr. Abdulrahman left voluntarily, but he said that he has still been unable to return home. Last month, a video shared by an Israeli lawmaker on social media showed his house had been turned into a space for religious study by the settlers.
"All my memories are in that home,” Mr. Abdulrahman said by phone last month from his brother’s house in the nearby town of Betunia, where he is now staying. “They are not only stealing our land but also trying to cut the roots that connect us to it.”
4The Abdulrahmans were among the first Palestinians affected by an Israeli government decision in May to redraw the map of the West Bank by turning more Palestinian areas into Jewish settlements.
In the most extensive expansion in decades, the government approved 22 villages and neighborhoods for settlements across the territory, including one called Beit Horon North, near where Mr. Abdulrahman and his wife lived, west of the Palestinian city of Ramallah. It was part of a broader and decades-long push by Israel to entrench its control over the West Bank.

Good.
We arent being told the factual story
“For two decades” — IOW, they moved onto land they didn’t own around 2005 — and the term settlers is just koranimal projection.
Possible it happened as written, but more likely to be a complete palifairy tale. It is The NY Times, after all.
Yet another boo-hoo story from the NYT that represents an unnecessary denuding of the nation’s forests.
Thoughts are I trust no story from them propaganda media.
How do property rights work in Israel. Does allowing Jews into an area mean the Jordanians have to leave? How was the Jordanian’s access blocked? If he owned his property how was it taken over (purchased, squatting, eminent domaine, etc)?
In my state there are multiple laws against blocking right of ways or traditional access to a person’s property. I would assume similar laws in Israel against blocked access and squatting. It seems unlikely that events are as presented.
The land is owned by private citizens who purchased them from the owners in Turkey. The Arabs are squatters who are attempting to adversely possess the land because they believe Jews can’t buy land.
The Arab squatters, no more how long term, are not under peaceable possession.
The Arabs are no different than the Gypsy vagabonds who cut my fence every decade or so and set up camp in my pasture where they think they won’t be noticed.
They just happen to have political power to keep them from being evicted, something I’m increasingly experiencing from leftists in Sante Fe.
Gaza showed how well removing Israeli settlements worked out.
The horror, the horror.
NYT?
BARF!
Here are mine: Boo hoo hoo.
Remember what G-d said to do to the Canaanites.
It’s not displacement. Israelis are producing wealth — by new farming, building houses, business, etc. — not stealing it from others.
Awwww.
Good. Long overdue. Let’s see an organized End The Fakestinian Occupation effort
Good times!
😭. NOT! IIRC, Israel allowed them to be there.
“How Israel’s settlement surge in the West Bank is displacing Palestinians”
Poor babies. If the Palestinians didn’t have the HIGHEST BIRTHRATE in the world, or very close to it, they wouldn’t have problems finding places to live.
“Intifada” means murdering Jews.
“Globalize the Intifada” means murdering Jews worldwide, like when ~1,000,000 Jews were driven from Muslim-majority countries from 1948-1967. Now Jews worldwide need somewhere to take refuge, and Israel already has a housing shortage.
Israel won the West Bank in a defensive war against Jordan. Jordan was formed from the British Mandatory Palestine region lost by the Ottoman Empire in WW1, and Jordan was formed from ~70% of the land intended for a restored Jewish National Homeland. Jordan IS Arab Palestine. The Arabs of the West Bank were Jordanian citizens until 1988.
Israel should annex all land won in a defensive war. It will discourage future wars.
Jordan should take in their people from the West Bank, just as Israel took in the ~1,000,000 Jews driven from Muslim-majority countries from 1948-1967.
