~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Camp Beauregard, Louisiana
Camp Beauregard is a U.S. Army installation located northeast of Pineville, Louisiana, primarily in Rapides Parish, but also extending northward into Grant Parish. It is operated and owned by the Louisiana National Guard as one of their main training areas. The current base covers 12,500 acres and is home to many different units and elements of the Louisiana Army National Guard. The camp was named for Louisiana native and Confederate General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard. Camp Beauregard is one of ten U.S. Army installations named for former Confederate Generals.

Camp Beauregard’s long history of supporting the training and mobilization of United States military personnel dates back to World War I through present day conflicts. The installation serves as the primary annual training and pre-mobilization training platform for the Louisiana National Guard.
The mission of Camp Beauregard is to support all training of the LANG and Department of Defense (DoD) customers in support of military and emergency operations both federal and state. In support of DoD force generation, Camp Beauregard provides quality training and training support resources/facilities for pre-mobilization and post-mobilization (as needed).
Additionally, Camp Beauregard serves as both a staging base for Louisiana National Guard personnel and logistical staging area for various emergency response agencies during times of State and Federal Emergencies.
Louisiana’s infantry tradition extends back to 1770 and the organization of the Louisiana militia under Spanish General Alexander O’Reilly. After the Louisiana Purchase, American commanders largely kept the same organization created by O’Reilly. Louisiana infantry units took part in the War of 1812, the Seminole Wars, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, and the Spanish American War before the modernization of the National Guard. Howdy radu!
Last week was just too wacky and the wackiness continues for another week. Bad weather last week shoved our event until this weekend, so working all week.
But, I will get some turkey and dressing Thursday at my niece’s home.
Hope you have a pleasant holiday!

Hey there, radu!
He’s doing better. He did take a few bites of kibble after “our” nap, but if he doesn’t eat any more than that, I might have to give in. He’s still not completely out of the woods.
Was your weather pleasant today? Ours was. A bit windy for a while...for no apparent reason. LOL!

I once had a cat named Beauregard.
We lived in a house where the previous cat was named Sherman...

Sounds good, getting out for a bit to visit Robin and the silly pups.
Waiting til the day after Thanksgiving to get together for a nice, relaxing breakfast sounds mighty good. Sometimes, Thanksgiving gets too hectic and loses some of the fun.
