Kupyansk has fallen, as Russian advances overwhelm Ukrainian defenses.
And so it happened that Russian forces have reportedly conquered (or, as they would prefer, liberated) the northern logistical center of Kupyansk.
We have reported about this battle here in TGP back in September: Putin Says Ukrainian Military Is in CRITICAL Condition, as Russian Forces Break Into Kupyansk and Advance Into Dnipropetrovsk Region.
Now, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov received a military-clad President Vladimir Putin in the headquarters of the Vostok (Western) military group to announce the conquest of Kupyansk.
Needless to say, as they’ve done in every single city they’ve lost in this war, Kiev regime denies the information.
Reuters reported:
“The chief of Russia’s general staff told President Vladimir Putin on Thursday that Russian forces had taken control of the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kupiansk, but Ukraine’s military denied the city had changed hands.
Ukraine also dismissed Russian statements that its forces had taken over large parts of two other towns — Pokrovsk, a logistics hub it has been pressing to capture for months, and Vovchansk, near the Russian border.”
Military Affairs reported:
“Russia’s takeover of Kupyansk, described by experts as a major blow to Ukraine’s command and defenses, exposes the gap between official claims and the situation on the ground.”
Russian military analyst Andrey Marochko told RIA Novosti that the loss of Kupyansk will deal a double blow to Ukraine’s command structure — damaging its reputation and destabilizing the entire defensive line in this sector.
He stressed that for Kiev, the fall of Kupyansk is a painful setback. The city served as a pivotal hub, crucial both for logistics and for maintaining the front.”
"Ukraine lost 3,000 troops and 900 pieces of military equipment attempting to break out of Kupiansk" – TASS
Meanwhile, Russia’s UN envoy ambassador Vasily Nebenzya says leaked documents show Ukraine lost over 1.7 million troops during the war.
Yeah - what happened to those guys? The USAID funding run out?
The 1.7m figure is getting pretty stale by now. I figure it’s closer to 1.9-2.0m by this point.

Little z’s master plan to have millions of available women and girls continues to march forward.
It’s his gift to the world.
Long overdue to cut off intel and long range missiles.
Z should take the deal.
Donbass voted to join russia.no loss to ukes.
If the deal allows UK/France to send troops to uke, then this will be a nonstarter.
I’m not trusting media reports but hope some is true so we can end this proxy war on russia.
Ukraine should have never invaded Russia in 2022.
Oh, wait...
I wonder how many the Russians lost.
The numbers are astounding and the street protestors have lost Ukraine flags and flying Argentina now.
Ukraine is pretty much forgotten. Millions dead and wounded with WW-I trench warfare and back pack drones.
Moscow says it so it must be true. A lot of news recently to make all the Putin lovers here very happy.
Yep, I’m thinking it’s all over but the tears and cheers, depending on what side you’re on. This time Trump and his team are going to ram the 28 point plan through come hell or high water.
A three year cruise for the USSR Minnow!
About to become a four year cruise!
We shouldn’t have fomented an illegal coup in Ukraine that setoff a war that led to the present war.
They are escaping from Kiev to Switzerland in the last cash truck.
1.7 million orthodox killed 1.7 million orthodox. God wins! My chest just swells with pride.
Nothing like killing your brother to get his wife.
They did kill them all fair and square.
I forsee a justified 100 year terrorist war on russian women and children in schools and orthodox churches. Not for the stupid land, but for the 1.7 million in bitter revenge. They’ll have the left over drones to do it. Merry Christmas from the ukes....
How to destroy you society, by vlad poontang.
Then, why does the Trump peace plan give up almost all of the annexed area?
That's a very stronk comment.
