Even as Zohran Mamdani poses a threat to New York’s Jews, groups like the Anti-Defamation League helped make his victory possible.
New Yorkers have elected Zohran Mamdani as their next mayor. His victory raises several questions, but for Jewish New Yorkers, one in particular: What did local and national Jewish organizations do to try to stop a man with Mamdani’s views from rising?
Almost nothing, it turns out. Indeed, the Anti-Defamation League and other well-heeled Jewish groups helped to make a candidate like Mamdani possible in myriad almost comically stupid ways, from designing anti-anti-Semitism curricula that actually made people considerably more likely to resent Jews to insisting on embracing politicians who despised them while giving the cold shoulder to those who stepped up to protect their interests.
To appreciate their cataclysmic failures, it helps to consider the threat Mamdani poses to New York’s Jews. As a student at Bowdoin College, he co-founded his school’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, the Hamas-supporting group now banned from several campuses for alleged material support of terrorism. He has crooned about his love for the Holy Land Five, terrorists convicted in 2009 for materially supporting Hamas.
Mamdani has repeatedly refused to condemn the slogan beloved by anti-Israel rioters—“globalize the Intifada”—which is effectively a call for violence. He has claimed that “when the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF”—a doubly spurious claim that not only accuses New York’s finest of wanton brutality but also identifies the world’s sole Jewish state as the real culprit. One,third of Jewish voters in New York voted for Mamdani, making Jews the biggest existential threat to Jews.
The ADL is not a friend of the U.S. or Christians in general, of course.

Whoever came up with that victimization pantload easily caused more resentment among average citizens toward religious Jews than every pro-palestinian speaker in the US ever has.
In general (there are always some exceptions) ‘organizations’ always attract and too often become saturated with self-important ideologues who derail the intended purpose of the organization. Kind of like homeowners association boards - but in a bigger scale.
ADL is a shakedown operation.

I have relayed this before, but many years ago I had a conversation with a Jewish friend who was a conservative. I asked him, Why do so many Jews who are business-oriented and family-oriented support the Democrats when the positions of the GOP would seem to align more with their interests? His answer was that a lot of Jews really dislike the Christian right and, despite all evidence to the contrary, view conservative Christians as their main enemy/antagonist. And that explained a lot. And it explains why an ADL was more hostile to a Donald Trump in 2016 than it is to a Mamdani in 2025
Jews have striven to accommodate themselves to the Big Dog and to demonstrate that they are no threat to the powers that be for 1500 years. They can be exasperating because they cozy up to the communists and even the NAZIS. At rare periods in history that has let them live relatively unmolested. At other times the Big Dog has been Stalin or Hitler. It does not usually go well for them. As for the many Jews who become Communists, well, they are like many who lose their religion, they will fall for the men who promise to take care of the people and leave them alone, see how fanatically loyal they are to the new Caesar.
They are both hate groups built on lies working to separate well off Leftists from their money.
