Massie predicts a ‘deluge’ of House Republicans will vote to release Epstein files

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) predicted “100 or more” House Republicans could vote in favor of releasing files and documents related to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein this week.

“I think we could have a deluge of Republicans,” Massie said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” when asked by Jonathan Karl about GOP support for the vote. “There could be 100 or more.”

Massie, alongside Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), led a successful discharge petition, which teed up a House vote seeking to compel the Trump administration to release more information about Epstein. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said the lower chamber is expected to vote on the legislation this coming week.

The Kentucky Republican on Sunday indicated that he hopes to secure a veto-proof majority — two-thirds of the Democrats and Republicans — in support of the effort. All Democrats and just four GOP lawmakers, including Massie, signed on to the petition.

“I would remind my Republican colleagues who are deciding how to vote — Donald Trump can protect you in red districts right now by giving you an endorsement,” Massie said. “But in 2030, he’s not going to be the president, and you will have voted to protect pedophiles if you don’t vote to release these files, and the president can’t protect you then.”

“The record of this vote will last longer than Donald Trump’s presidency,” he continued.

Massie, in recent months, has drawn the ire of the president after breaking with his party on several issues. He voted against Trump’s mammoth tax bill and has argued the president lacked authority to carry out strikes in Iran.

Briar Patch?

If Trump released them and they implicate Democrats, wouldn’t the defense be Trump is bad man?

If released against Trump’s will then Trump is bad argument doesn’t apply.

The Epstein brouhaha is nothing but a distraction. Nobody really cares, anyway.

The dems are so hot for this

Hmm. Why didn’t they act this way when Biden was in the White House, and when they had Congress?

The Epstein files are from way before Trump even came down the escalator

I think that when the real Epstein files threaten to release not the doctored up fakes they’re talking about here, they’ll go back to their real position and try to cover them up

But they’ll get released

Trump is trolling them as always

no. He is fighting hard to not release them . He called Boebert into the WH situation room to try to get her to change mind .

Dems refused mike Johnson’s ploy for unanimous consent. Everyone will be on the record on this vote. Nehl put on twitter he was voting no.he got severely ratio’ed for it .

There will be a lot of yes votes now that they can’t hide their vote

Bizarre that anyone is opposed to this

That’s correct . Johnson tried to provide cover but Dems refused. The people here who keep saying no one cares are flat wrong. You will see how wrong when GOp vote yes for fear of repercussions of voting no . Some people can get reelected no matter how they vote ..but not all. We could lose the House over this

Susan wiles needs to wake up or be fired.

I don’t understand this manic fixation on the so-called “Epstein Files.” I imagine it’s political, seen as a means to distract Trump from enacting his MAGA agenda. Why so many Republicans would support such is bizarre.

The fools!!! No matter what is contained in the files, good or bad, if a Republican’s name is in there the MSM will smear them until the cows come home. The Schumer Shutdown will fade into oblivion.

I’d be interested in seeing the public and private trajectory of Repubs who go full NeverTrumper.

They seem to think it’ll result in fame and fortune.

From Willard, to Cantor, to Eddie Munster, to Cheney, to McCarthy, they fade to obscurity.

That's not the real files. I just used the photo to illustrate the actual situation. There aren't nice, neat "Epstein files" lying around, waiting for release. It's a garbage dump that requires thousands of man-hours to sift through and turn into something coherent.

I've worked on IT document storage projects before. It ain't a simple matter.

The better question is, how many pubbies are afraid to vote “Yes” even though even the donkeys know it is the right thing to do?
