Summary

WASHINGTON, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Bipartisan talks in the U.S. Senate to end the federal shutdown have taken a positive turn, Senate Majority Leader John Thune said on Saturday, with lawmakers working on deals to temporarily reopen the government and introduce three longer-term funding bills for some agencies.

Asked by reporters whether there have been bipartisan talks within the last 24 hours that have been positive in nature, Thune, a South Dakota Republican, responded, "Yeah. I'd say so."

Saturday marked the 39th day of the federal shutdown, which has already sidelined many federal workers and affected food aid, air travel and national parks. After weeks of faltering talks, Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. Senate seemed to start negotiating in earnest late this week.

Lawmakers on Saturday hoped to unveil the full text of three fiscal 2026 full-year funding measures for agriculture, food and nutrition programs, along with money for military construction projects, veterans' programs and funding to operate Congress, according to Republican senators. The proposals would fund those operations through September 30, 2026.

Meanwhile, senators have been working on a stopgap measure that would buy them more time to reach a deal on the remaining nine "discretionary" spending bills for the rest of the federal government, such as agencies for homeland security, defense, housing and health.

We need the airlines running full speed and those air traffic controllers working. Another month and it will start cascading strongly thru the economy and some major issues we do t need to deal with right now. We need to stay focused on cleaning up corruption and rebuilding our military for the upcoming war.

GOPe loves it when the Dims run everything - even when the GOP is in the majority. However, it is really the Uniparty.

So sad.

“Yes, whatever they do they better get the funding related to air traffic figured out fast.”

As for air traffic controllers:
1. policemen can direct the ‘winged cars’ on the ground
2. a state-paid person can watch radar screens and broadcast on digital radio.

Some simple rules of the sky, a watch on every pilot’s hand, some servers, connections to radars, and some software is all it takes to put an air traffic controller in every cockpit.

These hacks (Dems n Pubs) are obsessed with the ins and outs of flying. Since they make many fights per year. Air traffic controller chaos has kicked in, they don’t want to die, due to random F-up. This is why they are moving on this shutdown.

Schumer is a Zombie. Thune is the key. Will he cave?
Pelosi was super obsessed with flying. She took a military jet back and forth to San Fran Sicko.
