Restaurant chain Wagamama will move its headquarters to Tampa [from NYC]
Tampa Bay Times ^ | November 5, 2025 | Rebecca Liebson

The asian-fusion restaurant brand Wagamama USA is relocating its corporate headquarters from New York to Tampa.

In December, the company will move to The Towers at Westshore, located at 1408 N. Westshore Blvd., according to a Wednesday media release. There will be between 15 and 20 employees based there.

“Relocating to Tampa positions us for long-term growth,” CEO of Wagamama USA, Stephen Judge said in a statement. “It allows us to continue building a world-class team and strengthen the foundations required for disciplined expansion.”

Wagamama USA currently operates seven locations across the U.S., including one at Tampa’s Water Street, which opened in 2023.

The brand launched in London in 1992 but has since gone global, with franchised restaurants in more than 22 countries.

This was before the election, but it is a precursor of things to come.

Talk is cheap. How many people said they would leave the US if Trump was reelected? And how many actually left? Same with NYC. The vast majority of those who said they would leave will stay.

A lot of the Mamdani fanbois don’t even live in NYC, and couldn’t even vote for him.

The vast majority of those who said they would leave will stay.

Outside of the sensationalist headlines and emotions, NY State has been on a slow and steady leak of productive citizens, jobs, tax-base and congressional seats for 40 years. Mamdani will only accelerate the trend that is in place.

The problem with NY State, and especially NY City, its tax base is very skewed. Relatively few wealthy pay a large share of the taxes. If a portion of those leave, combined with any stock-market decline, and NY's fiscal situation goes from unhealthy to critical.

Those problems, and leftist social-engineering, have been papered-over for years with more migrants, more welfare, more Fed.gov transfers, and more debt.

Keeping NY City and other social-engineering welfare blue cities has been the goal of Democrats, with the help of RINOs, for the past 40 years also.

Conservatives and even Trump do not have the balls or ability to end this, because it means fundamental change in the spending and organization of Fed.gov.

A lot will leave. Financial firms have already left in massive numbers. So many that Dallas rivals NYC as a financial hub. I know of many that are in the works. Now NJ isn’t an option with this commie bitch getting a supermajority, many will leave NJ too.

They are already calling it "Y'all Street".

Yup—the New Jersey election was a disaster and will force companies to make big moves instead of small ones.

Many of the people who say that are just blowing smoke. But business will do it, and most will do it quietly, without fanfare, because businesses just care about making money, if being in NYC is not conducive to that they will go where it is.

My wife and I ate at the one right outside The Tower of London in 2019. Really, really good.

Kind of an Asian Fusion place.

Wish they had one near Houston.

the last thing I would do as a company is announce that I was leaving a Leftist stronghold.

I would just go. They will try to collect city and state taxes, however that will be a no go

No they won’t. They will be forced to move, unlike the virtual signaling democrats who had nothing to lose by staying.
