WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the U.S. military carried out three strikes Monday in the waters of the Eastern Pacific against boats suspected of carrying drugs, killing 14 and leaving one survivor.
The announcement made on social media Tuesday, marks a continued escalation in the pace of the strikes, which began in early September spaced weeks apart. This was the first time multiple strikes were announced in a single day

Hegseth is not stupid. And neither is the US military. It’s not guesswork, picking boats at random. They know what these boats are carrying.
Are the guys driving the boats slow learners or are they not being told of the danger? I’m guessing Door Number 2, Monty.
“Suspected of”...........note how the AP got that in the write up.
That’s less young people dying of fentynol overdose because they destroy the drugs as well as the drug dealers!
No doubt the AP a-hole was crying when “they” wrote that
I think some jobs are harder to say no to than others, especially if you have a family or lack the sophistication to be able to flee your village and disappear from reprisal, also it isn’t uncommon for men to play the odds for the chance of big paychecks.
War on Drugs. The drugs were blown up. Mission accomplished.
The runners were just collateral damage.
Too bad. So sad.
surely the cartels cannot expect this not to happen
This is what an actual “War On Drugs” looks like.
Kill em all, let God sort em out.
I would like one boat captured and the drugs it carried to be shown publicly to shut the haters up
Where's RandFan defending his fellow cartel-supporting kook?
You can also bet that this is about more than dope.
Maduro is definitely in bed with the Iranians, and would certainly not be above assisting with whatever chaos they are prepping to unleash on CONUS.
Good time to be prepared IMHO.
C’mon - you think word hasn’t gotten back to these guys yet?
Even if no one down there watches Fox News or X:
“my buddies go out on a drug run. They don’t come back - repeatedly.
By now, they’d be trying different routes, or alternative means of transit.
... which is another reason this doesn’t make any sense to me.
Well, we did expand our reach from outside Venezuela to the Pacific Ocean. My guess is that Venezuela is going to be quiet for a while.
Not like we cannot see what they are loading from drones or space.
“Use this route, you’ll be fine”.
> By now, they’d be trying different routes, or alternative means of transit. <
Yes. But those alternate routes are more difficult than the sea routes they’re doing now. Otherwise, they’d be doing only those other routes in the first place.
Anything that makes life more difficult for the cartels is okay with me.
