To understand how the Western world lost its confidence — how we became a civilization confused about morality, sex, and even reality — we must look back to one of modernity’s most influential and corrosive figures: Sigmund Freud.
Freud’s psychological doctrines reshaped how the West views desire, virtue, and identity. His ideas helped lay the groundwork for the Sexual Revolution and the new gender politics that now dominate our schools, media, and institutions. The result is a culture hyper-sexualized, guilt-ridden, and detached from the moral roots that once sustained Western civilization.
Freud: Prophet of Desire
Freud presented himself as a scientist but operated more like a prophet of the flesh. He built an entire theory of human nature upon his own obsessions — most notoriously the “Oedipus complex,” claiming, with no proof whatsoever, that all men secretly desire their mothers and resent their fathers.
For centuries, Western civilization taught that human beings are moral creatures capable of self-control, that virtue — not pleasure — is the mark of maturity. Freud turned this on its head. He recast restraint as sickness and indulgence as health. Lust was no longer a temptation to be resisted, but a psychological need to be fulfilled.
Critic Frederick Crews summarized Freud’s legacy bluntly: “The entire system of psychoanalysis rests on nothing more substantial than Freud’s word that it is true.” Nobel laureate Sir Peter Medawar called it “a stupendous intellectual confidence trick.”
Historians have documented Freud’s cocaine addiction and his self-diagnosed neuroses. His own granddaughter, Dr. Sophie Freud, dismissed his theories as “narcissistic indulgence.” Psychiatrist Edward R. Pinckney called psychoanalysis “the biggest hoax ever played on humanity.” Modern scholars have shown that Freud’s central claims were invented interpretations, never verified by real evidence.

Beyond Freud, the whole field is pretty much make believe. Can you really prove that someone is schizophrenic? Psychotic? Obsessive? The clues for each syndrome are all published in the DSM-III ... anyone can read that work and memorize the symptoms and then “present” as a sufferer. A practitioner hears the patient’s symptoms, checks DSM-III and says “Yes, you really have that illness.”
Who can say that it’s true? Or say that it’s false? It’s all just an opinion and a shared illusion that the crowd decides to go along with.

The West seems to be prone to cooking up and embracing a lot of bad ideas.
That’s what I was looking for.
Freud’s patients were victorian wives, whose husbands were diddling their mistresses and ignoring their spouses.
No wonder he was so sex-obsessed.
if the entire Western cuktural establishment was really knocked off balance by one fellow sitting in his drawing room and writing a few books, the there really must have been something quite wrong with it before. Maybe the trauma of WWI, something of that magnitude?
Freud set out to become famous, to win the favor of the girl he had fallen for. At first he hit upon cocaine, in which he thought he had hit upon the wonder drug of the ages. When that didn’t work out (once its addictive properties became obvious) he hit on something else: the exploration of “female hysteria,” a cure for which he determined to come up with, and thereby become the wonder mentalist of the ages.
He was a smart man, and I can’t really blame him for giving it his best shot. But what he “discovered” hasn’t stood the test of time, I’m afraid.
Especially if those bad ideas have the side effect of giving scientific justification to the guilty pleasures of Western people.

I’ve held that Sigmund Fraudski was the god of secular humanist evil since I read a biography of him and one of his books.
His book forward was dedicated to Lucifer the light bearer.
That part may be scrubbed from subsequent editions, but the one I checked out of a library had it 30 years ago.
the lie that is taught that he was scientific and non religious is just that, a lie.
He participated in seances, automatic writing, AND was a druggie and a sexual pervert. He used drugs to attain higher consciousness to learn ascended truths supposedly, i.e. sorcery.
And our whole psychology profession is based on his insanity.
