Putin is amassing nuclear weapons and attack submarines in the Arctic Circle as his country prepares for war with NATO, Norway has said.
Norway's Defence Minister Tore Sandvik claimed his country had found Russia had been increasing its military presence in the Arctic, particularly in the Kola peninsula.
The politician also said Vladimir Putin had been attempting to take over the Arctic region where its fleet is based to block shipping routes to Nato allies if war broke out.
'Russia is building up on the Kola peninsula... where one of the largest arsenals of nuclear warheads in the world is located,' Mr Sandvik told The Telegraph.
'They [the nuclear weapons] are not only pointed towards Norway, but towards the UK and over the pole towards Canada and the US.
'We are the eyes and ears of Nato in this area, and we see that they're testing new weapons, for example hypersonic missiles, and they are testing nuclear-driven torpedoes and nuclear warheads.'
The Kola peninsula, famed for accommodating the world's most condensed nuclear weapon stockpile, plays a key role in the Kremlin's ability to deliver a 'second strike'.
The term 'second strike' refers to a nation's ability to retaliate following an initial nuclear strike by a rival.

It's getting to the point where a decapitation strike will be necessary to save the world. Putin & Medvdv need to be taken out together.
Putin is pining for the Warsaw Pact era when their conventional forces were formidable. Now nuclear blowhardism is all he has, which may have worked with Auto Pen, but it won’t with Trump.
Why would Russia be doing that when NATO nations are doing this to themselves?
If there is one thing we’ve learned by watching the Russians on the battle field is if NATO wanted Russia it could take it - at least thats how Russia seems to act - they know they’re losers.
And people wonder why Russia is keeping nuclear weapons hot.
Like they've had ever since they were created. Name a foreign leader since 1947. They've had an assassination plan to murder them.
That's Europe's responsibility, not ours. The US needs to withdraw from NATO as soon as possible so as not to get caught up in the plans of the Europeans. When have they ever been right when it comes to policing their own region?

At the beginning of winter? Where’s the “Aww Jeez, not this shit again.” guy? Remember the claims from a few months ago that Russia was “massing” forces on the Finnish border? It turned out to be 2,000 guys in tents. Besides, the Ukes are bragging they sunk the Russian Navy and the Russians are down to using shovels, donkeys and golf carts to fight with. They also told us the Russian nukes were so rundown they won’t fire. This is just more BS.
Putin can barely afford to keep up the grind in the Ukraine. 🙄
Putin gave a speech the other day at the Russian Geographical Org or Society or something like that. I scrolled through its website. It seems to be a scientific organization with its primary role to be a seminar for scientists to submit papers and perhaps more critically submit applications for research grants.
It did not strike me as the place that a country’s president would be giving a speech if he was perpetually concerned about military situations. He does not appear to be. I believe he also gave the key note speech at the SPIEF.

The real shame is that Ukraine didn’t keep its nuclear weapons.
