The first immigration case NYC mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani may have to confront if elected could be his own – as two House Republicans push the Justice Department to probe his path to citizenship and possibly boot him from the US.
Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) last week demanded the feds “review every naturalization of the past 30 years – starting with Mamdani.”
“I just think we need to take a hard look at how these folks became citizens, and if there is any fraud or any violation of the rules we need to denaturalize and deport,” Fine told the Post.

Part of me understands this and agrees with this —but this REALLY starts to look like targeting political opponents. It’s not a good look.
If they start with Obama, I’d be happier. Prove that his birth certificate is phony, and then move on to Mamdani and others. We need to settle old issues first and then perhaps use those as justification for new issues.
Unlikely they could do this before the election.

US immigration law declares inadmissible those who have “been a member of or affiliated with the Communist or any other totalitarian party.” The current form asks would-be citizens to disclose if they have ever been associated “in any way” with “any Communist or totalitarian party anywhere in the world.”
I would definitely get behind that. We need a real definition of Natural Born Citizen and then mandate that elected officials and appointed judges must all be NBC. Currently it's just the President (with NBC being undefined, really). We need to expand and introduce rigor.

We need standards and accountability in this country but we’re not very committed to enforcing them. We’ve gone too far down the slippery slope of acceptance and acquiescence. And now we are seeing what it leads to.
