President Donald Trump notched a legal victory Friday in his lawsuit against Iowa pollster J. Ann Selzer and The Des Moines Register, and the case will now land in Iowa State Court after an appeals court sided with the president and ruled a lower court had overstepped.

Trump’s legal team, which has accused the defendants of "brazen election interference" with their final 2024 Iowa presidential poll that showed him trailing Democrat Kamala Harris, originally requested the case be moved to Iowa State Court in May after the defendants "removed" the case to federal court.

A federal judge denied the request at the time, but the Obama-appointed judge was overruled by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.

I remember that. The first thing I looked up was her age. People like to take cheap shots on their way out. She was 67.

Singlaub had his 30 years of service before he called out Carter over Korea. At least his issue was more serious to the country as opposed to a party.

This is an important case. The Left will resort to dirty tricks whenever it can, so they have to be deterred by the threat of being prosecuted or sued when they do.

God bless President Trump for his efforts to keep our elections fair and secure. He doesn’t have to pursue this and other cases - he could have just taken the win and let it go. Not Trump - he is doing this for all of us, not himself

Excellent!

Needed to specify the quality of the poll.

If Trump wins, this will send message to political pollsters: don’t play a game with your methods and/or results, since you may have to pay for the consequences.

The newspaper will have to pay for damages if guilty-deep pockets. The writer? She can put it on the editor. Steffi and Tucker got expensive to their employers.

Remanding to state court was the right ruling in this case, but it doesn't have anything to do with the merits of the case, which I'm almost positive Trump will lose. If not at the trial level, on appeal.

And for the record, I also said Trump would win most of his appeals in the cases against him personally.

It was never more than a nuisance suit to freeze the editorial comments of the writer and paper. Even if the writer and paper fabricated every single word of the poll report, there’s no cause of action against libel that doesn’t require demonstrations of admissible malice.
