The ‘No Kings’ Protests Against Democracy Itself
American Greatness ^ | October 19, 2025 | Roger Kimball

Trump’s decisive 2024 victory exposed the irony of the left’s “No Kings” protests—an anti-democracy tantrum against the most democratic act of all: an election.

On November 5, 2024, Donald Trump won the United States presidential election against Kamala Harris. It was a convincing win. Trump snagged victory in the Electoral College, where the contest is officially decided, 312 to 226. He needed only 270 to prevail. He also won the popular vote (a nice but unnecessary distinction), with 77,302,580 votes to 75,017,613, a margin of almost 2 million votes.

I mention these well-known facts to underscore the black comedy of the “No Kings” protests taking place across the country as I write. According to several sources, some 2500 separate protests are planned. Millions of people are expected to join in the fun. More than 200 left-wing groups, from the ACLU and Antifa to Indivisible, have helped organize the events. Prominent Democrats from Bernie Sanders to AOC to Gavin Newsom and Chuck Schumer are panting to attend and proclaim their virtue and denounce the duly elected president of the United States. Really, as Speaker of the House Mike Johnson observed, the “No Kings” rallies ought to be called “Hate America” rallies.

I live in deep-blue Fairfield County, Connecticut. In nearby Westport, terminally disgruntled middle-to-late-aged citizens, joined by clumps of unattractive GenZeers—Geezers and Zeers—regularly congregate on a certain bridge to protest for or against whatever the central committee has handed down as this week’s issue: climate change, fossil fuels, Brett Kavanaugh,  Israel, etc. Whatever the announced issue is, they are there with their signs, their self-righteousness, their ire. I am pretty sure I recognized some old-timers today from their stints protesting against George W. Bush and the Iraq War. Naturally, the crowds were out...

Democrats, liberals, the MSM and woke folks think we’re a democracy. Shows their illiteracy of our Constitution.

The No Kings protest was a Soros-funded effort to get the Democrat activist base charged up after being totally demoralized over the past 11 months since Trump’s victory. Trump has kept them completely off balance since he became president. The Dems have to do something to get their activists charged up to start influencing policy again.

Trump won 2700 Counties to Harris's 550. That shows the value of the Electoral College.

I've never seen the precinct by precinct numbers but I'd be willing to bet the red and blue map would be even redder than the County map.

Hey Roger, get it right...

Trump’s decisive 2024 victory exposed the irony of the left’s “No Kings” protests—an anti-CONSTITUTIONAL-REPUBLIC tantrum against the most CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC act of all: an election.

America after all, is a free constitutional republic, not a coercive, slavish, unrepresentative democracy.

Who is their funder, their organizer, their leader, THEIR KING? Where is their Bill of Rights, their Constitution? What is their contribution to civilization?

The crazy, demented Dems are starting to find out that when they welcome ‘ALL like minded people’ they end up with crazier and crazier people. And, while it’s hard to herd cats, it’s even harder to control crazy people.

Maybe some people don’t know. Peaceful Assembly is one of the rights in the First Amendment. If you are against this right in the Constitution. Maybe you should rethink what democracy is.

WTF are you babbling about? Nobody wants to stop them. We just want to laugh at them. Is that wrong?

Wishing the Democrats would back down, get the government open again, & let Trump do some good things.

let Trump do some good things

The best thing Trump can do for America is whatever he can do to PERMANENTLY shut down the 80%+ unconstitutional portion of the totalitarian federal gov't.

Restore America's Free Constitutional Republic is the only road to MAGA, because a PEOPLE FREE from unjust and unconstitutional gov't coercion is what made America great.

That’s it...let it all out... It must be a terrible feeling not to be able to defend your beliefs.

And I must admit you typed the STFU like you really had that kind of power.... Life is frustrating, huh? try putting that kind of energy into making money and you will not have as many heart attacks...

Someone should try to get a paid protesting gig from Soros, then post the video. I’m thinking Andy Ngo, but any enterprising Freeper could do it, I’ll bet.
