Ahead of Zelenskyy meeting, Trump shows signs he might not be ready to send Kyiv Tomahawk missiles

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is set to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for talks at the White House on Friday, with the U.S. leader signaling he's not ready to agree to sell Kyiv a long-range missile system that the Ukrainians say they desperately need.

Zelenskyy gets his one-on-one with Trump a day after the U.S. president and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a lengthy phone call to discuss the conflict.

In recent days, Trump had shown an openness to selling Ukraine long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles, even as Putin warned that such a move would further strain the U.S.-Russian relationship.

But following Thursday’s call with Putin, Trump appeared to downplay the prospects of Ukraine getting the missiles, which have a range of about 995 miles (1,600 kilometers.)

“We need Tomahawks for the United States of America too,” Trump said. “We have a lot of them, but we need them. I mean we can’t deplete our country.”

Sending Tomahawks to Kyiv is the same as sending American troops to fight. It takes American personal and intelligence to launch one. That would be a direct act of war by us on Russia. I don’t believe Trump would do that.

Yeah, let's violate nuclear arms treaties by sending nuclear capable missiles to non-NATO Ukraine, where dictator Zelensky discontinued elections.

Putin likely countered by saying he'd offer nuclear capable missiles to Mexico, Cuba, and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

It wouldn’t matter if he did. We don’t have enough to send to change anything.

Russia is using nuclear capable missiles in their invasion of Ukraine.

And I doubt Russia thinks that the US would be giving nuclear warheads to Ukraine.

The Military Summary guy seems upset at the way Trump is treating poor Zelensky on this Tomahawk deal. Nobody from the Trump admin even bothered to greet Z at the airport either. Z senses disaster.

We may be back to where we were a few months ago.

Ukraine compelled to cede territory for a cease fire.

Ukrainians of course. It’s just like in Independence Day, where anyone who flies a 172 can get a tutorial and effectively fly an F-18 in combat.

Easy peasy... just like in the movies /s

Nevermind that to become a US Navy Fire Controlman takes around a year to 16 months. These Ukes, you can spin them up in about a week or two.

No kidding. I have a former “USAID” buddy who was in Ukraine actually pushing the buttons, as it were, to shoot Lockheed’s finest at Russia. ( he’s since moved on to another, more morally justifiable assignment.)

Fun fact: Watch the glowies expose themselves in reaction. The dumber ones…

Russia is using nuclear capable missiles in their invasion of Ukraine.

Ukraine is not a NATO country, so that's NOT an excuse.

And I doubt Russia thinks that the US would be giving nuclear warheads to Ukraine.

And you would be WRONG. After witnessing the sneak attacks on their strategic early warning radar and nuclear bombers, Russia isn't giving the West anymore benefit of the doubt.

I agree, most knew it was Bullcrap.
but the threat was stupid and insane.
Tomahawks are nuclear capable so if Russia saw one enetering their airspace,- they would have no choice but to launch a nuclear counter-strike.We could only hope and pray that their target would only be the launch site...likely inside ukraine

Russia is using nuclear capable missiles in their invasion of Ukraine.

That's between Russia and Ukraine, not the U.S. and Russia. The globalists should have thought of that before they had U.S. Secretary of State Victoria Nuland overthrow the legitimate government of Ukraine.

And I doubt Russia thinks that the US would be giving nuclear warheads to Ukraine.

Let Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, put your doubts to rest:

"Just imagine: a long-range missile is launched and is flying, and we know that it could be nuclear. What should the Russian Federation think? Just how should Russia react? Military experts overseas should understand this." - Dmitry Peskov

Russia doesn’t think America is giving nuclear warheads to Ukraine, and America doesn’t need an excuse to continue its support for Ukraine and opposition to Russia and North Korea’s massive and threatening European war on NATO borders.

The biggest European war since WWII on NATO’s borders, Russian nuclear capable missiles and their ability to nuclear arm them, Russia and North Korea, they are all of great interest to us obviously since we are supporting Ukraine and opposing Putin/Kim Jong Un, and we don’t pay attention to everything that the Kremlin puts out, our country has its own positions.
