The government entered a shutdown at the beginning of the month, after the Senate failed to pass the House's continuing resolution, or a competing one from Senate Democrats. The Senate needs 60 votes to invoke cloture on? the resolutions.

The Senate on Tuesday night failed for the eighth time to make serious headway on passing a House-passed continuing resolution that would keep the government open through Nov. 21.

The government entered a shutdown at the beginning of the month, after the Senate failed to pass the House's continuing resolution, or a competing one from Senate Democrats. The Senate needs 60 votes to invoke cloture on the resolutions.

The latest vote was a 49-45 split, which saw Democratic Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and Independent Maine Sen. Angus King voting with Republicans.

Kentucky GOP Sen. Rand Paul voted against the resolution.

Sens. Bill Cassidy, Tammy Duckworth, Bill Hagerty, Mitch McConnell, John Fetterman and Thom Tillis did not vote. Senate Majority Leader John Thune voted against the bill in order to make a motion to reconsider the legislation in the future.

It is not clear when the next vote will take place.

No CR. Pass a budget for FY26.

That’s the little-covered but extremely important thing: they’ve passed all the appropriations bills. They’re at the reconciliation stage. That’s why the proposed CR is so short

Perhaps original subsidy formula Obamacare first six months of a year, then Chuck’s subsidy formula the last six months of a year.

Then phase Chuck’s formula out one month per subsequent year.

December 2032 would be the last month for Chuck’s formula.

Note: That’s an idea that popped into my head. I have made my preferences for minimums known repeatedly.

What’s it take to pass a normal budget? A majority? If so, it’s time for Repukes to man up, and pass a budget without the pinkos.

If they’re still using baseline budgeting, passing a budget doesn’t help.

You won’t like that when the ‘pubs don’t have a majority.

The ‘Rats have already tried it and would undoubtedly do it again given the chance - doing this now helps us now.

It would help us now, but is it short sighted?

“The future is now.” - George Allen

My point is, the ‘Rats will do this themselves whether the GOP does it or not. Why shackle ourselves?
