Why Trump’s Remarkable Gaza Peace Plan Is Succeeding
American Greatness ^ | October 10, 2025 | Fred Fleitz

Trump’s bold Gaza peace plan achieves a historic first step—cease-fire, hostage release, and Arab-Israeli cooperation few thought possible.

Yesterday, at noon Egypt time, Israel and Hamas agreed to implement the first stage of President Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan by implementing an immediate cease-fire, a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the release by Hamas of 48 Israeli hostages, 20 of whom are believed to be alive. Israel also agreed to release almost 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, including about 250 who were serving life sentences, primarily for terrorism-related charges.

As I explained in my October 3 American Greatness article, Trump’s peace plan is bold and may not ultimately succeed. There is work to be done to finalize other stages of this agreement. Nevertheless, it is hard to exaggerate the significance of Israel and Hamas agreeing to the critical first stage.

Just a few weeks ago, few believed Hamas would ever release its hostages, never mind all of them at once. It also appeared unlikely that either side would agree to a cease-fire. Moreover, Hamas’s initial answer on October 3 of “yes, but” to the 20-point plan appeared to be the same response that caused previous peace plans to fail.

President Trump and his negotiating team were not deterred by Hamas’s initial ambiguous answer to the 20-point plan. Diplomats from the U.S., Egypt, Qatar, and the UAE instead engaged in intensive negotiations over the last week to get past Hamas’s objections and implement the first stage to quickly free all of the Israeli hostages, a cease-fire, and a partial Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Releasing all the Israeli hostages is a significant concession for Hamas because it has regarded them as essential bargaining chips.

There will probably be difficult negotiations ahead to convince Hamas to agree to other parts of the deal, such as...

The US should never get in the business of foreign nation building again. We need to build America!

Is it succeeding? I think it’s too early to even say that.

Until Hamas actually releases all the hostages it’s just talk.

Hamas has reneged on numerous promises.

I’m assuming they follow through it’s probably because Qatar and the UAE are making serious threats to surviving Hamas leadership to kill them or their families and seize their stashes of sqirreled away wealth.

Way too early to pop the champagne. Let’s see where things are a month or 6 months from now.

Reality check: there will be no peace until every member of Hamas is dead.

That has to stick in the craw.

They're releasing an army back into the wild. Some "agreement".

I am trusting that in the instant that Hamas breaks the agreement, the IDF will immediately and systematically take every one of those guys who had been their prisoners.

Israeli intelligence community knows where everyone is and how to reach them. They cannot escape that

Hamas may release hostages. But there’s absolutely no way that they will disarm, nor is there any way that they will give up power. As such, this “peace plan“ simply cannot work.

And Israel releasing 2000 prisoners, including many convicted murderers, is exactly how they got into this situation in the first place. This (thankfully deceased) guy, Sinwar, who planned the October 7 genocide had been an Israeli prisoner. He was released as part of a completely lopsided prisoner swap, so that Israel could get back one soldier. While it is incredibly admirable that Israel values each life so highly, it is a very shortsighted policy. Yes, they save one or a few individuals in the short term, but in the long run, they are actually killing more of their own citizens by releasing savages, who always go back to doing what savages do.

I expect that this conflict will be reignited within a few weeks, at most. It can be no other way when the only thing that one side wants is to murder every single person on the other side because their religion tells them to do so, and their religion also tells them that it is desirable to lie when you are in a position of weakness, so that you can regroup and attack later.

Hamas got everything they wanted. PR, 2,000 terrorists serving life sentences released and no doubt a large pile of cash from Qatar. They got closure on their mass murder and rape spree Oct. 7th, too. Israel will have a much harder time politically starting up offensive operrations against them again.

Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan by implementing an immediate cease-fire, a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the release by Hamas of 48 Israeli hostages, 20 of whom are believed to be alive. 'Remarkable' is not the word I'd use.

The price is simply too high and it's a ridiculous plan. I can't believe the Israelis would agree to it.

There MUST be more to this "propaganda."
