Trump is all about political theatre, or circus, and it often seems that even in resisting him, as decent citizens must do, we become part of the circus too. We are like the extras who splutter while he thrills the base by violating some heretofore inviolate human norm. So the show goes on. But why not put on our own show, our own form of political theatre, that leaves Trump out – or at least has a different focus?
We could consider the kind of political theatre that Americans created from 1768 to 1776 to resist Britain’s growing crackdown. Instead of employing their creaky legislative bodies, they opted for new forms of resistance, non-importation committees, even a first continental congress with no apparent legitimacy or precedent.
However weak, those acts of political theater led to formal independence. After the war, American leaders held a convention – nominally to amend the Articles of Confederation with a unanimous vote by every state. Instead, the framers worked in secret, replaced the articles altogether, and changed the process for amending the new constitution to a three quarters vote.

I’m ready. If it happens, be now while I am still young enough to participate or wait until I am gone, then I won’t care. I don’t to sit om my porch drooling and not be able to act.
Here’ how: hoist the stars and bars
Nearly everything the writer wrote is wrong.
Hmmm...in what state is The Guardian based? Take care of your own crap, Brits, and keep your seditious ideas to yourselves.
From the very first sentence.
Why stop there? California is a “Blue” state but the entire Eastern half of the state is Red. Does California split in half? What about New York? Does upstate New York, Long Island and Staten Island split off to form Red New York? Or does Pennsylvania become the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metropolitan areas and Scranton, and the rest of the state becomes Red Pennsylvania? Let’s go county by county and split up that way. Some on the Right, like Marjorie Taylor Green, want to do this too. The answer is to have government do a lot less and then the state won’t be as oppressive whether its in liberal or conservative hands.
They could form a confederation of like minded states, allied in the same cause.
National Divorce.
It’s time.
They hate you.
You hate them.
Can’t live together.
No Civil War - Civil Separation.
We’re already there.
Now, it’s just positioning about who gets the new car, and who gets the beater.
The British Left, taking a break from destroying their own country, spends a few minutes advising Americans how to destroy our country. The Left is the enemy of ALL civilization.
Trump is not doing anything unconstitutional.
The left is going to have trouble fighting that, but they’ll try anyways.
Nearly everything the writer wrote is wrong...........
Its the best a Brit can do.
Meh. Another theater kid cranky because he’s being upstaged. What a wanker.
Didn't the South try this in 1860?

The circus needs to obliterated.
May the clowns pick what little time they should have left to continue to be seditious clowns to their end.
The ever helpful Red Guardian is suggesting “Hey, if you start a war we’ll be happy to lie for you!” Big help.
Bring it. Some of us already have a list of those for thinning the herd.
I don't think this author understands the nature of compacts, even being a lawyer.
Compacts between the states and approved by Congress DO NOt create federal law; these compacts are state laws that further the interests of multiple states. As state laws, the Supremacy clause in Article VI says that these laws, compact or not, cannot supplant federal law.
These "blue states" cannot use the compacts clause to force new federal law onto the rest of the nation.

“Emergency” for what? “Less crime is coming folks! Best be prepared for the fallout!”
