Israel has eliminated the Hamas commander who led the killing and kidnapping from the 'shelter of death' during the October 7 attacks.
Hassan Mahmoud Hassan Hussein orchestrated the massacre of 16 Israelis from a roadside bomb shelter, where partygoers fled after terrorists descended on the Nova music festival.
The commander, who served in Hamas's Bureij Battalion, also oversaw the kidnapping of four hostages, including Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who later died in Gaza.
Hussein was killed in a recent airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the IDF announced. Muhammad Abu Attawi, the other Hamas commander who helped carry out the roadside murders was killed in an Israeli strike in October 2024.
Hamas gunmen found the bunker and launched an assault, throwing grenades and firing at partygoers as they sought shelter.
The deaths came despite the heroic efforts of those hiding inside, with one brave British-Israeli throwing back seven grenades before the eighth exploded in his hand.
Aner Elyakim Shapira, 22, threw the grenades out, one after the other, as he helped to save the lives of seven others.
Hamas gunmen then entered the shelter before killing 16 of the 27 people hiding inside, taking four hostage.
Those who survived hid under the bodies of the dead for hours until they were rescued.
Shocking footage of the attack, mostly filmed by one of the Hamas terrorists, showed heavily armed gunmen dragging the survivors out from the bunker and throwing them into the back of a pickup truck before driving them to Gaza.
The terrorists are heard referring to the captives as 'dogs', with one grabbing a hostage by the head and shouting: 'I want to take a selfie with you'.
A blurred version of the horrifying footage was released at the family's request last year in a bid to push for a hostage deal.

I hope that Israel can come to a peace agreement with Hamas, but only if the Hamas that had anything to do with dead hostages get the agreement after they are dead too.

I could agree with that, but it seems that no matter how many of these slime bags they kill, the ones that are left, keep launching rockets and planting IEDs.
I’ve have seen none of those videos as I haven’t seen the assassination of Charlie and have no desire to.

I have seen those bomb shelters. Each one has a memorial, because hamass murdered the civilians sheltering there, a War Crime.

I appreciate your consistent position. I’m more moderate. I think each gazan who ever picks up a gun to murder Jews should be preemptively killed until there are no more willing murderers. Just keep killing them until the RUN away from a gun able to murder a Jew.
What we need here are changed minds. That may take killing a LOT of gazans whose only purpose in life is murdering Jews. I’m totally okay with that.

According to the military, Hassan Mahmoud Hassan Hussein served as a Nukha company commander in Hamas’s Bureij Battalion.
