UK records second biggest annual population jump in 75 years
Sky News ^ | Friday 26 September 2025

The UK population has grown by more than three-quarters of a million - the second-largest increase in 75 years.

Most of the increase was due to international migration, with natural change - the difference between births and deaths - accounting for only a small proportion.

A record 69.3 million people were estimated to be in the UK in mid-2024, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Some 1,235,254 were estimated to have immigrated to the UK in the 12 months to June 2024, while 496,536 were likely to have emigrated - meaning net migration was 738,718.

The overall increase of 755,254 is the second-largest jump since 1949.

It is larger than many UK cities. Leeds, for example, has a population of 750,000.

The ONS estimates that the population has grown faster in England in the year to June 2024 (1.2%) than in Scotland (0.7%), Wales (0.6%) and Northern Ireland (0.4%).

Nigel Henretty, of the ONS, said: "The UK population has increased each year since mid-1982.

"The rate of population increase has been higher in recent years, and the rise seen in the year to mid-2024 represents the second largest annual increase in numerical terms in over 75 years.

Folks, it takes around 18 years to grow an American taxpayer.

If we are lucky.

We need more and need them fast.

And the only kind we benefit from are freedom-living hard workers who want to become Americans.

I’m thinking that, given what the UK’s Deep State plans for its citizenry, a reverse brain drain targeting the UK is now in order.

Give freedom-loving UK citizens who would like to come here, become Americans, work hard, raise their kids, a bump to the head of the line.

Those are some immigrants I would be delighted to welcome.

The immigrants were more likely to be Hindu or Christian rather than mohammedan

Approximately 210,000 (17% of total immigration) were indian. Primarily arriving on study (e.g., university visas) and skilled work routes, including health and care sectors.

Around 99,000 (8%). Were Pakistani so nearly definitely Mohammedans.

About 86,000 (7%) Chinese Largely students, with some work-related entries.

Other notable groups include Ukrainian nationals (via humanitarian schemes, ~20,000–30,000) and smaller numbers from countries like Bangladesh, Philippines, and EU states (e.g., Romania and Poland, totaling ~100,000 combined).

Recent immigrants to the UK (particularly those arriving since 2016) overwhelmingly contribute more to public finances through taxes and fees than they receive in benefits and services, according to analyses from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), Migration Advisory Committee (MAC), and Migration Observatory (updated 2024). This net positive impact stems from their prime working age (25–54), high employment rates, and restrictions on welfare access (e.g., the “No Recourse to Public Funds” rule for most visa holders).

Immigrants pay ~£20 billion annually in taxes (2020 baseline, adjusted upward for 2024 inflows). They are 45% less likely to claim benefits/tax credits than UK natives and 21% less likely when matched for age, gender, and education. Recent waves (post-2000) contributed a net £25 billion (2001–2011 baseline, sustained in 2024 data).

Indian and Chinese (Study/Skilled Work): High positive impact (£16,300 net per skilled worker vs. £800 for average UK-born adult). They pay visa fees (£1,900–£2,600 Immigration Health Surcharge) and taxes on median earnings (£56,600 for skilled workers), with low welfare use (ineligible for most benefits initially).

Do they aren’t leeches and majority are mot Islamic

But you are right that this is a sudden change in demographics

"John Heywood was an English writer known for his plays, poems, and collection of proverbs. Although he is best known as a playwright, he was also active as a musician and composer, though no musical works survive. A devout Catholic, he nevertheless served as a royal servant to both the Catholic and Protestant regimes of Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I."

Navy pat “96% of new babies in UK have been named Mohamed!”

That is utterly false, Navy, you should be ashamed for saying such a falsehood.

Muhammad (and its variants like Mohammed) is the most popular boys’ name in recent years, but even then, it accounts for only about 2-3% of all boy births—nowhere near 96% of all babies (which include girls).

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) tracks baby names based on birth registrations in England and Wales (which represent about 85% of UK births; Scotland and Northern Ireland have similar but separate data). They count exact spellings separately, so “Muhammad,” “Mohammed,” and “Mohammad” are treated as distinct names. Here’s the breakdown for the most recent years:

2024 (data released July 2025):
Total live births in England and Wales: ~560,000 (approx. 286,000 boys).
Muhammad: 5,721 boys (top boys’ name, ~2.0% of boy births).
Mohammed: 1,760 boys (21st place).
Mohammad: 986 boys (53rd place).
Combined variants: ~8,500 boys (~3.0% of boy births, or ~1.5% of all babies).

For context:
The top girls’ name (Olivia) was given to ~2,761 babies in 2024 (~1.0% of girl births).
No name exceeds 2-3% even among boys, and girls’ names make up half of all births, so the overall percentage for any single name is always under 2%.

Interestingly, 96% of my fishing lures are swallowed hook, line and sinker by Muslim apologists.

The other 4% are returned with smiley faces drawn on them.
