Do Republicans have ‘room’ for Trump critics? Paul and Massie hope so
Semafor ^ | Sep 26 | Burgess Everett

MOUNT OLIVET, Ky. — Rand Paul might run for president in 2028. It depends on whether the Republican Party still has space for his fellow Kentuckian who now shares the title of Donald Trump’s biggest conservative troublemaker.

“First, we’ve got to see if Thomas Massie will keep his job and get reelected,” Paul said after offering a “maybe” to the 2028 question. For Paul, a libertarian-leaning senator willing to break with the president when most fellow Republicans fall in line, Massie’s ability to withstand a Trump-backed primary foe speaks to his own future.

“We represent the same thing. If people are unhappy with Thomas and he’s unelected, that hurts me personally. But it also hurts the idea of: Is there room in the party?” Paul told Semafor with Massie by his side as the two barnstormed the state this week.

...

Despite the occasional friction, Paul and Massie both praised Trump as the best president of their lifetimes — but not correct on everything. Massie has pictures of Trump in his ads and even does a decent Trump impression.

This is how I feel and I think some on here to do if being honest about it! There should be room for disagreement, no?

We are targets because of Republican weakness. All this tolerance has resulted in murder and chaos. So, no is the answer. Its MAGA or GTFO.

I agree with you 100%, there must be room for disagreement. Where we part ways is when somebody criticizes just to say they are not a team player or for their own personal aggrandizement.

For instance, I've disagreed with the President's position on a couple of things over the years, but it turned out later after the facts are in that he was right. So it's a good thing I keep my mouth shut when there is nothing to criticize.

The Media and the closet Democrats would love to have Republicans that fight against Republicans and side with the Democrats.

The Democrats largely vote in Blocs.

They want to sell it as a good thing that Republicans undermine changing DC and undermine a Republican President.

They want it so one side is united and the other gets slaughtered.

Beware of Politicians that find odd reasons to keep the status quo in Dirty DC. It’s called the Deep State.

Massie had no problem with Comey and he loved Chris Wray. Massie said he wanted Trump prosecuted when Mar-A-Lago was raided.

We just had 4 years of Republicans passing Biden’s people, Biden’s agenda, and Biden’s spending. Biden’s Judge’s.

So you see what’s happening here, the same Republicans pass the Dem’s agenda, and then a Republican is elected Prez, and they undermine and sabotage. Play that out and you’ll see why our Institutions and agencies are so f’:()ed up.

We can gather at a meal place, veggies too firm, bread stale, meat wa ok, but the coffee and the desserts, ambrosia! See ya next week.

We can disagree F1, nascar, NHRA, scca, and still enjoy getting our ears blow out by the noise. Or the known coming, not wanted, but happens, crash.

These are all things made, designed, and operated by men, under various bylawThe U.S. Presidency is dictated by The U.S. Constitution, with all his pet projects and peaves under that law. However, since LBJ, there has been a touch of ROGUe
Some unmistakeably clear, some not so much.It could be the removal of one key from the typewriter/keyboards in the building. It could be as dastardly commanding all military operations himself. It could be the recent sexcapades in the building.I am sure the readers could plug in some, too.

In the end, the guy in the suit with an American flag lapel pin, is the guy that got the votes, period. Yes, 2020 is a point of contention, still. I might be dead, and somebody still found something new. ( They’ve been chewing on the Kennedy assassination this year ) He’s the lightning rod. He’s the harbinger of death and the announcer of victory. I might not like him, I hope he proves me wrong. It’s his name that will make the books of time. My name in time will be on the wind.

How can there not be room for disagreement when we don’t know what tomorrow may bring? I trust President Trump but in order to have the integrity that the Democrats sorely lack, we have to acknowledge the fact that rigidity toward the future is somewhat like having unrealistic expectations.

I do hope Massie and Paul both run in the primary. Seeing them up there will be like seeing a 2016 replay with Christie being replaced by Massie and a Paul replay.

In 2015 Rand Paul was described as the most disappointing, particularly among die-hard fans of his father, Ron Paul, a two-time Republican presidential candidate.

You go, Rand. You go, Christie…I mean Massie. See you guys on MSDNC.

These two with their personal beefs with President Trump can go to hell as far as I am concerned.
Stop pretending they are anything but detrimental to the cause.
They are the enemy.

There is a time for disagreement and a time for consensus. These two clowns cant recognize that and its time for them to go.

Disagree AFTER the battle is won by Trump, not in the thick of it.

These two skunks need to be primaried.

Whatever evil you can say about the demoncraps, at least they stick together and circle the wagons. These two showboaters are all about forming circular firing squads. Randcid and Massholie are the biggest idiots to ever have an (R) after their names.

Disagreements yes. But when it comes time to rally to pass the leader of your party’s agenda through congress, then you need to be counted on especially when numbers are tight. That hasn’t been the case with either of these men. Which incidentally, is why the dems have been able to nearly turn the country into a socialist state. They stick together and support their leader’s agenda. Your party should do the same, if for no other reason than to dismantle the damage done!

How much would it have hurt either Massie or Paul to cast a yea vote where they normally wouldn’t in order to pass the Presidents agenda and strip one more bit of garbage off the back of the country? Not much. Not much at all. They had plenty of time to give strong powerful opposition to whatever they found distasteful to their high minded principals. Don’t present the moral arguments to me. Pragmatism is how a politician survives in DC. Morals and high minded principals are extinct.

And it wouldnt hurt if your party forced out Never Trumpers instead of celebrating them. Then maybe legislation could be passed more efficiently to put America First and not calculated political careers.

Of the two, I am okay with Senator Paul, but Massie has to go. The reason is that most of the time, Rand is on our side like when he's pounding that clymer Fauci. He has also been mostly on President Trump's side which is ironic when you consider that very first Republican debate in 2015 began with Rand attacking President Trump.

Massie, though, is just a horse's keister who looks for ways to irritate us and the President, and the more we're irritated, the more Massie does it. He may as well be that fat slob Chris Christie for the way he acts.

To vigorously disagree, yes. But when it comes time to rally to pass the leader of your party’s agenda through congress, then you need to be counted on especially when numbers are tight. Don’t present the moral arguments to me. Pragmatism is how a politician survives in DC. Morals and high minded principals are extinct. Lincoln himself recognized this during the Civil War. Please dont get me wrong. I do respect men of principal. However, I’m reminded why Lincoln centralized power to save the country and how high minded principals got in the South’s way of governance and helped lead, among many things, to downfall.

These two didn’t get the memo: “We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”

In this volatile political situation today, where one side is preaching hate and violence, we don’t need any more “Maverick Republicans”.

Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way.

There’s room, provided there are some core principals that all in the party adhere to. What those are is a discussion in itself.
