Two Republican lawmakers have introduced a bill that would authorize the minting of 400,000 silver dollar coins featuring the image of Charlie Kirk, FOX News reported Sept. 24.
The proposal, brought forward by Reps. August Pfluger, R-Texas, and Abe Hamadeh, R-Ariz., seeks to memorialize Kirk through limited-edition legal tender bearing his likeness, full name, and the inscription “well done, good and faithful servant.” The year 2026, the motto of the U.S., and other official markings would also appear.
The final coin design would be selected by the Treasury Secretary in consultation with President Donald Trump.
The text of the bill highlights Kirk’s advocacy for First Amendment freedoms, particularly on college campuses, where he encouraged “open debate and respectful disagreement” at a time when, the bill says, free speech was “imperiled.” It also points to Kirk and his wife Erika as examples who “inspired countless young Americans to value the institution of the family,” and describes Kirk as a loving father who “recognized and shared the importance of forming a family.”
The bill also calls him “a stalwart believer in American exceptionalism.”
“Charlie loved his country and had great faith in its potential,” the bill states, “encouraging his fellow citizens to honor their civic duty and participate fully in upholding their responsibilities as citizens.”
In public comments, both lawmakers praised Kirk’s influence among young conservatives and framed the proposal as a way to preserve his legacy for future generations.
Hamadeh described Kirk as an “American treasure” and referenced the long-standing practice of using commemorative coinage to honor historical figures.
“He tirelessly sacrificed his time, energy, and money to save this nation for future generations. Ultimately, at the hands of a radical leftist, he sacrificed his life,” Hamadeh told FOX News. “His life must be commemorated, and this coin will allow us to pass a reminder of his remarkable life on to generations to come.”
Pfluger noted that Kirk, who was 31 at the time of his death, would be the youngest person ever featured on U.S. currency if the measure becomes law.
“Charlie Kirk was a conservative titan whose transformational impact on millions of Americans deserves permanent recognition alongside our nation’s greatest leaders and influential figures,” Pfluger told FOX News.
This initiative follows a series of other proposals introduced in Congress since Kirk’s death, including establishing a national day of remembrance, award posthumous honors, and install a statue in the U.S. Capitol. A bipartisan resolution recognizing his life and condemning political violence was passed by the House last week.
Sacagawea
Now Charlie Kirk
I liked Charlie. But all of this talk is getting a little silly.
Why not just name him a saint and be done with it.
Get rid of everyone except Signers of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution, and dead Presidents.
Politicized currencies, and money creation, are a death-knell for an economy.
Agree!
He was fantastic but its like suggesting his face on Mt Rushmore.
Yeah, no. One day murderous Leftist FurriecRATS (but I repeat myself) will want to honor Tyler Robinson the same way.
Enough Charlie Kirk already.
It won’t happen—but more fitting than Susie B.
Exactly!
Sauce for the goose...
Do we want the only “important” people of our time to be on the left?
I thought there was a certain period of time that had to pass after a death before a stamp could be issued. IDK if true.
Okay. okay. Time to tap the brakes on this whirlwind locomotion for Charlie. Bastante (enough!) Just last week someone suggested Charlie should be canonized into Sainthood (!!) Just stop.
No more big changes or proposals until at least five years has passed. If someone wants to design and market some other kind of tribute or product, fine, just first submit your ideas to Mrs. Kirk and company for their consideration.
Any reply may take several months.
Someone here likened him to the Second Coming. That thread didn’t last long.
But putting Charlie on a postage stamp might be a good idea. After all, many lesser people have ended up on one. Lucille Ball, for example. Funny lady. But not exactly a savior of the Republic.
NO! NO! No!
A Thousand Times NO !!!
Put up some billboards or stamp out some Challenge Coins.....
But stop messing with our coins and currency to make political statements..
Some of the recent quarters foisted on us are downright ugly.
Leave it to politicians to go full pandering mode.
Is this going to interfere with the Democrats’ plan to put Baalzebub on the $1 bill?
The next USN carrier(CVN) laid down should be named the USS Charlie Kirk.
Suck a maple tree.
Coins? Currency? Nope.
Agreed. But if the democrats are going to elevate a drug dealing violent felon to sainthood and erect statues around the nation for him (George Floyd) then it will be suitable. And I deeply appreciate anything that angers democrats.
