WASHINGTON, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Physicians may be exempted from new H-1B visa fees, according to a report on Monday, days after the White House announced a new $100,000 fee for such visas that include "case-by-case exemptions if in the national interest."

Doctors may be among those exempted, a Bloomberg news reporter said in a post on X, citing White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers.

Hell no!

Doctors and nurses were the first skilled professionals targeted by the H1-B program for wage reductions.

Cancel the entire H1-B program.

We have heard decades of lies and mis-directions about this program. It was created and designed to force lower salaries in high-cost, high-skilled professions and that is exactly what it does.

I did not vote for this.

I am against exemptions, especially for Physicians. 100K per year. The cost of American Medical Schools is high, and the money we could recover from ‘insourcing’ per year could be used to offset the cost of Education for Americans.

Why should an American spend seven years and half a million dollars getting a medical degree only to compete for workman wages against someone reading MRI’s in India? Break the connection. Create the demand for American doctors (engineers, etc.) and people will go get that training. Right now, the education is a losing proposition.

Anything good in medicine today seems to be because of the modernized technology and improved techniques, not from the human quality of the individual doctors who I think would in general be thought little of by the engaged, inquisitive, problem solving doctors of 1960.

We DO NOT need anymore foreigners in the medical community.

We’ve already driven out most Americans from it!

Do you want an H1B doctor that paid a total of $800 for his medical degree?

This one hits home.

My son's father-in-law is an oncologist. He is approaching 68 years old and at a family gathering, I asked him about his plans to retire.

He replied he was scared to retire, because he worried what would happen to his patients.

We are admitting bottom-of-the-barrel health care providers under the H-1B program. And it is in no way a solution to the provider shortage.

Well the problem is we need incentivize more US citizens to compete in STEM and stop wasting money on BS degrees. Its going to to years if not decades to build up the American skilled labor force. If we cut off all H1B at once then prices will go up with demand and lack of supply. Some carve outs will be important, but there does need to be some off ramp plan.

I have said for decades, there should be no government money in schools except as needed for national defense. i.e critical skills of which STEM and medicine are included. That is the way to get colleges and universities back to teaching these critical skills, make those degrees the money makers.

Could they at least require them to speak clear English?

Nothing worse than trying to decipher what is being said, 3 words back and realize you’ve lost the plot.

Most especially when it’s your health—you should be able to clearly understand what is being said, without hard struggles.

They’ll probably just get AMA or BigPharma to cover the $100K fee.

No, thanks.

America was perfectly fine without any Indians and will be fine if we get rid of them now. They need to be removed from America as soon as possible though , their culture is disgusting

Good motivation before the mid-term elections. PDJT is no longer a lame duck but a daffy duck. He truly loves the foreign investors more than American citizens. Again!

We need memes of clips of Trumps walking backwards and captions of each time he changes his mind. He could do a reverse marathon and he has not been in office a year yet.

Buckle up MAGA and bend over. Trump does not respect us anymore.

Bait and switch.

All part of Their Plan™

Dumb down our own kids’ education so they can import these ‘necessary/vital’ replacements.

The us consumer does not directly buy product from stem workers. Global trillion dollar corporations will barely notice a cost increase in labor. Stockholders may see a half percent drop in their stock dividends. Boo boo
