Three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets lingered in NATO-member Estonia's airspace for several minutes on Friday, according to Estonian authorities. Italian F-35s responded.
Estonia's Prime Minister Kristen Michal said on Friday evening that the government has requested NATO Article 4 consultations with the alliance's allies following an airspace violation by Russian jets.
"This morning, 3 Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered Estonian airspace. NATO fighters responded, and the Russian planes were forced to flee," Michal wrote in a post on X.
"Such violation is totally unacceptable."
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the jets entered Estonian airspace and lingered over the Gulf of Finland for 12 minutes.
The Russian charge d’affaires was summoned and given a protest note, he added.

Calculated moves but to what end?
I can only imagine Putin is trying for intimidation to get NATO to pull back in Ukraine, but that’s an awfully dangerous game to play.
Yes it is. And dangerous gamesmanship is the new normal these days.
Failing with their Ukraine plans, the UK / Davos will push the Baltics into the meat-grinder next.
Don’t worry Soros/Putin will take over quickly.
Is some kind of war (beyond the proxy war in Ukraine) now inevitable? The drones over Poland could be thought of as a mistake, but not this.
What, no one is claiming that these were Ukrainian planes disguised as Russian ones?
Poll of how many Americans will accept dying and having their families die, in a nuclear World War III over Estonia?

It’s interesting to watch and compare to other periods. It surely does seem that “mankind” has some large wars several times each Century.
Whenever there’s a large economic disruption, like the industrial revolution, science revolution, Great Depression, and now high technology revolution, lots of people get displaced and unemployment increases.
A big war is a time tested way to reduce the number of mouths that need feeding, for at least a generation.
Ukraine has MIG-31s?
That’s pretty glib. Especially considering the U.S. is not involved in this.
The EU and the American proxy warriors are getting ready to precipitate a crisis that will escalate the conflict to try to force America to intervene in Ukraine.
Get ready for it. We are in for what could be a wild ride.
When the Russian jets realized that they were over Stunning And Brave Kaja Kallas’ Estonia, they beat a hasty retreat.
RE: That’s pretty glib. Especially considering the U.S. is not involved in this.
That’s involvement. Along with the many treaties and NATO
obligations.
“The United States is party to numerous treaties, with over 200 multilateral treaties for which it serves as a depositary, and approximately 374 historical treaties with Native American nations, in addition to numerous bilateral and regional agreements. The total number is not a static figure, as the U.S. enters into new agreements annually...”

Mapped: America’s Collective Defense Agreements
The United States has agreements to come to the defense of more than 50 other nations.

Obama promised Putin he could have Ukraine when he was president. Biden did everything in his power to help Putin, withing the constraints he was under. Most the money for Ukraine was skimmed off by Biden, because Manchin nixed his spending plan. WEF was behind the invasion, and is playing both sides. Since Putin and the jihadists can’t do it, is the U.S. obligated to occupy Ukraine for them?
Not our circus.
Not our monkeys.
Get the US out of NATO.
Just because Bush and Obama said we must do what Putin says, doesn't mean we have to.
I wouldn’t mess with a Mig-31. It’s a Mig-25 with a long range missile.
