The right to vote is one of the most misunderstood rights in American law.
...
It must be noted that the Constitution does not prohibit all restrictions on voting rights. Sex and race are the big ones, but at one time, states did restrict the right to vote to property owners. This gradually vanished, until today, the right to vote is popularly considered a human right, endowed to us by our Creator. It is not in the founding documents, however.
In too many cases, allowing incompetent people to vote amounts to giving matches to small children — matches and dynamite. The stakes are too high, the accountability too low. Voters are not required to know anything except how to cast their vote, period, if even that. They need apply no criteria, no reason, no facts to their decision. For all too many, their only criterion is to vote Democrat, or less commonly Republican, regardless of other factors.
Voting is not one of the God-given rights on which our nation is founded. Therefore, what arguments can be made, for or against, allowing women to vote?
Ann Coulter, and others of late, say that women, as a group, seek security rather than risk, in government policies. As a result, so the case goes, they are more likely to favor a welfare state than the rough-and-tumble of a competitive free market, on which our republic depends for economic survival. In international affairs, according to some, they tend to be more pacifist than men, even in the face of a foreign aggressor.
But is the problem really with women? Would that we could have had a President Margaret Thatcher rather than a Joe Biden!
The problem is that all too many voters, men and women, know little or nothing about American history...

One family, one vote?
yes, but must live by/with their vote. no “rules are for thee, not for me” clauses. non-compliance means forfeiture of future voting rights.
No. I used to think they were too emotional to vote when they swooned over Slick Willy but when I heard one after another say they voted for Gore because of how he kissed his wife on TV (you know, the one HE WAS CHEATING ON). they “felt” he was the better man. Right then and there I knew it was a bad experiment and had to end. Now, the country is heading towards a death spiral, lead by women.
“In too many cases, allowing incompetent people to vote amounts to giving matches to small children”
Should incompetent people be allowed to keep and bear arms?
Only conservative women
I always thought that only land owners should be allowed to vote. But that also means less government involvement with land ownership, except that you must be a citizen.
If we could renormalize families again, Id want voting to only be done as a family vote and not individual.
Before the argument of both XX and XY voting, first voter fraud has to be eliminated and along with dumbasses voting in the same thieves in federal offices namely in the congress and senate.
On the state and county levels there’s got to be 1000’s.
Correct
Whoever wrote this is an arrogant SOB.
My father raised me on the farm as a person, next job next person (gathering eggs, feeding the pigs, changing the oil in the tractor, chopping firewood, ETC.) Gender never came into play!
How about the feminine boys living in their mother’s basement that don’t know a wrench from a screwdriver - want them voting? NOT!
We have gotten too far away from the farm - people don’t know basic values!!!
Of course women should vote.
Like men, they should inform themselves and do it wisely.
In the days before disposable diapers, women who were parents of small children might not have gotten out as much , and so were perhaps not as informed as men, as voters. But with availability of news of current events, and access to first hand life experiences of how the world runs, they have as much opportunity as men to form and exercise their judgement. They also have responsibility as citizens, the same as men.
Improved civic education would help both sexes vote more wisely.
No.
No. All women and a large percentage of men should not be voting. This used to be limited on the federal level by the requirement to be a male landowner.
If only property owners, the rich, we would be worst off. I would say off hand that the rich have more democrates than republicans
Well they got us kicked out the garden of Eden.
I suspect the author of the article had mommy issues.
The power of each vot has been diluted over time
Sex not gender
Sex is male female
Gender is a language term that defines masculine or feminine case
He could only sat that because during his lifetime there was no (serious) notion of giving women the vote.
Somebody remind me, how many World Wars were there before the Suffragette movement?
