In cases like this I often suspect that they know the identity and probable location of the perp early on, but they string the investigation along to see if the perp makes contact with others who could end up being charged as co-conspirators.
If true, I hope the trial is swift and the execution is televised.
Not a pro. A pro would kill somebody on a dark dead end road, not in front of 3000 people with cameras everywhere.
Unless the mission was to send a message. Or prompt an uprising.

That rifle, if the one used, was a bargain basement 30-06 with a cheap composite stock, and the scope was placed so badly it looked like the bolt would hit it when you cycled it
Well, he only cycled it once, so maybe good enough.
The details, including the perp (unless he's tied to a larger organization, foreign/other) no longer matter at this point. It's no longer a "slippery slope" it's the new world (order) we now live in...thanks in large part to lethargy on the part of those who could have nipped it in the bud DECADES ago.

That would be the only thing that would make sense. I THOUGHT he flew back to DC but who knows with all the breaking news and 9/11 coverage on so many channels last night. Easy to lose track of the president - LOL!
I did watch Air Force One documentary on 9/11 - from GWB getting the news in FL and flying to MO and then to NB...and finally back to DC...
