He tried to warn them.
Over the weekend, President Donald Trump unveiled a new ceasefire proposal before sending a message to Hamas: "The Israelis have accepted my terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well," he said. "I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one! Thank you for your attention to this matter."
Hamas apparently didn't pay attention to the matter. One of its senior terrorists, Bassem Naim, released a statement on Monday calling Trump's proposal a "humiliating surrender document" and saying Hamas's "right" to weapons and terrorism "cannot be relinquished." By Tuesday morning, Israel launched a surprise airstrike on Hamas leaders inside Qatar, targeting four of its top terrorists, including chairman Khaled Meshaal.
The IDF called the attack "a precise strike targeting leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization." Qatar said it targeted a "Hamas residential headquarters" in Doha, where the terror group's senior officials have long lived in luxury. It's unclear at this time which officials were killed in the strike. Qatar said it would suspend "mediation efforts for a Gaza deal until further notice."

Well good.
There were 17 dead.
Lije the ceasefire yesterday at the bus station?
Seems like Trump is following the advice of that great Muslim-American, Muhammad Ali: “Never try to smarten up a chump.” Trump gave them a final warning Sunday, they didn’t listen.
Good. I’m sure they would have taken out more but I can’t imagine the difficulty of timing a remote attack from 1000 miles away.
After 2 years they clearly were not making progress on the hostages, so it was time to replace them.
You can run, but can’t hide. I love how the IDF always goes for the head of the serpent.
It’s a repeat of Reagan’s message, “you can run but you can’t hide.”
It also sends the message that they are not safe anywhere and they will be hunted down to the last man. I like how Israel carries out executions in the field.
DIP (die in place) or DWM (die while moving) sometimes it’s the only choice left and one just means you’ll die tired.
Every single Munich massacre terrorist was subsequently hunted and killed in the streets by Mossad.
How you feeling today, Mashaal?
May they meet their 90 year old virgins (in Hell).

Among the three surviving direct perpetrators from the Munich site:

No doubt, that was somebody’s baby in Qatar AND Iran. That bus stop was a terror strike waiting to happen for the longest time. Overcrowded, bottleneck in traffic. My daughter-in-law knew it was bad news, and refused to send any of her kids (my grandkids) to school in Ramot long before this. Thank G-d she had foresight.
Olive Oyl and Betty Boop will be first in line to get their tickets punched.
There were 17 dead.

In Qatar?
I just asked grok about the death toll. Grok has access to twitter which can be pretty quick. Grok said no word yet of casualties but early word is that the leadership survived.
I prefer your numbers but the lack of clarity shows at minimum that this raid is not as clear cut as the raids that took out hezbollah upper level and mid level operatives.
Yes. 17
Reliable source.
I don’t know the path, but it was devastating.
Situational awareness. Well done to you DIL. Hope they can stay safe. Thanks for sharing.👍🙏🕎
“How you feeling today, Mashaal?”
Much better than you apparently. Smarter too.
