Oil giant Shell USA allegedly ousted all the white employees from its corporate security team in Houston — replacing them with less qualified people of color in what amounted to a discriminatory purge, according to a bombshell lawsuit.
Kevin Taylor and Gulf War veteran Michelle Romak, who are both white, claim they were booted from their jobs earlier this year despite each having more than a decade of relevant experience at Shell, according to the lawsuit filed in the US Southern District of Texas on Tuesday.
They are suing Shell and Wayne Hunt, a regional security manager – alleging they participated in a discriminatory restructuring under DEI mandates that violate civil rights laws.
Shell did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
In January, Hunt announced an upcoming reorganization and required all of the white employees on the team to reapply for their current roles – though non-white team members were not required to submit applications, according to the lawsuit.
At the time, Hunt told Taylor that he had to resubmit for his current job because “others had expressed interest” and Shell “was looking to diversify the talent,” the suit alleged.
High-level security roles were then given to a Hispanic woman who had a background as an administrative assistant and a black man with no background in protecting people or assets, according to the lawsuit.
A Hispanic contractor for Shell – whose contract had previously been in the process of being terminated for poor performance – also won a role on the team, along with a Hispanic woman without US citizenship, the lawsuit said.
When it was revealed that she was ineligible due to her citizenship, the woman was given a high-level role at Shell in Mexico, according to the complaint.

Take them for EVERYTHING!!!!
I’d bet dollars to donuts this occurred subsequent to the Summer of Floyd.
Shell is a Dutch-British, highly political quasi-state company
Their institutional wokeness is guaranteed to be through the roof.
DEI CEOs an invitation to financial disaster but it seems to me after the financial disaster the CEOs skate of to a $$$$ retirement and the rest of the company, its employees, stock holders and users suffer the consequences of their stupidity or arrogance.
These are people with the $$$ to push this to a law suit.
Super easy to prove. Shell is in deep doo-doo.
BTW, are they sure the name wasn’t “Mike Hunt”?
They are a European company, and they thought that is what the US government wanted. So, it’s logical that they would go heavily DEI to curry US government favor, sad to say.
Shell has been doing the DEI thing for a long time. I once had to get a mortgage release from them for a dealer we represented. This was 15 years after pay off. Woman at Shell was obviously a minority (she spoke in ebonics) and she had no clue what to do until I told her very sternly that we would sue her and Shell because RI law makes it illegal to not release a mortgage immediately after pay off. Had the release in my hands the next day.
“Shell is a Dutch-British, highly political quasi-state company”
Just imagine what Democrats will do with partial ownership of Intel someday ...
We’re done with that sh*t.
Shell is not the only company in Houston doing this. Chevron is lousy with this type of discrimination.
Hope Shell learns a very expensive lesson. This DEI crap is starting to wane, but it needs to shut down now. Hire based on qualifications, not skin color.
All it took was for Rev Jackson to be invited into a board room, then he used coercion to force the corportution to do anything the Rev Jesse wanted. Threats of various kinds can go a long way.
Cracker Barrel and Bud Light Shell idiots....
>> Chevron is lousy with this type of discrimination.
Sorry to hear that... I figured Chevron with its US roots would be better.
Shell is owned by Saudi Aramco. It did start as British-Dutch but that ended long ago. Litigated a big lawsuit against them and their regional dealers. Shell and their Dealers were screwing over lessees by raising the minimum gallonages they had to buy (mandatory) from Shell every month, and knowing that they could not sell that much at that location. They also raised rents exponentially. They also would open up new stations within one mile or less of the independent leased stations.
Put them out on the street! Let that CEO walk around with very weak security for a while, or even no security.
