The Trump administration has issued $6.1 billion in fines to immigrants it says have ignored deportation orders. Now it is moving to collect those penalties.

“It’s driving immigrants to the point where they feel like they will lose everything if they remain in the United States, so it’s better to cut their losses, pack up and self-deport,” said immigration attorney LaToya McBean Pompy…
“These fines are targeted toward illegal aliens who ignore removal orders and do not honor voluntary departure agreements,” Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said.
Immigrants, many of whom are low-wage workers, have received past-due notices warning they could also be subjected to hefty interest fees, late payment penalties and administrative charges worth hundreds of thousands of dollars…
In a novel move, Homeland Security has also indicated it could report unpaid fines to the Internal Revenue Service as potential income, just as when a lender writes off credit-card debts, mortgage deficiencies or medical bills and the IRS treats the forgiven balance as taxable income...

Dr. Steve Turley, a conservative podcast that I listened to fairly regularly, said that the current number of deported either by ice or self deported is at 2 million since January. Not sure where he got the numbers from but generally speaking, he doesn’t pull that type of stuff out of his butt.

This is wonderful. If they owe taxes and have a bank account their income can be garnished. Oh my.

Have you never heard of civil forfeiture? This is a great incentive for illegals to sell up any property and leave.
They’re lower priority on the list than the ones with violent criminal connections - they’ve said that all along. Thing is that this is something that can be done to ‘encourage’ self-deportation and not requiring more officers right this second.
In the highly automated world we’re in, this can basically all be done with just database and remote work. You can’t even get welfare or any government benefits in check form any more - comes in EBT/debit form or it has to go through direct deposit and a bank. This will hurt them in the wallet.
They won’t get the option to not pay. Everyone has to have a bank account or equivalent these days, because as a practical matter, you need that for the credit or debit cards you need. If you have an account somewhere, the Feds can access it and empty it.
Think about that. KNOWN locations of criminals.
Liquidate their assets. The government has no problem doing that to us.
