Trump wrote: “ABC, CBS, NBC should lose their broadcast Licenses for unfair coverage of Republicans and Conservatives, but at a minimum, they should pay up BIG for having the privilege of using the most valuable airwaves anywhere. Crooked ‘journalism’ should not be rewarded, it should be terminated.”
I think his problem is they are public airwaves and writing news that is even 92% or 97% one sided is not in the interest of the public.
Lame Stream Media feels Trump was so wrong about his 97% negative news comment about the media...
Media Research Center said the negative news was ONLY 92%...
Well, that’s a big difference.../Sarc
They have a responsibility to be fair.
To my knowledge, the networks do not have or need licenses from the FCC. Only broadcast stations have licenses.
There is limited bandwidth over the airwaves, just like radio. Those outlets can broadcast whatever they want on the internet (as long as they are not receiving federal funds).
Otherwise, the FCC should be looking at these outlets as gifts to the Rat Party. Punishment and fines are what they should be receiving.
“There is limited bandwidth over the airwaves, just like radio”
Radio is over the airwaves.
We have oaths that reference “domestic enemies,” too.
There was a time in the 1950s and 1960s I believed the news. All that changed in 1968. Then ABC seemed to be the only fair news organization. Again that changed within a few years. Same for PBS. Have not listened to news broadcasts in 20 years.
“It wasn’t clear from where Trump was citing the “97%” figure. A study released earlier this year by the conservative media watchdog group, Media Research Center (MRC), found that coverage of the president’s first 100 days in office was “92% negative.”
The media STILL haven’t figured out Trump’s trick - which is to say something wrong (or maybe wrong, in this case), which then gets the media to say ha! ha!, you’re wrong Trump, it’s ‘only’ 92%...thereby making his point.
Absolutely. This is the kind of stupid Trumpian statement that hands a lot of ammo to those who don't like him, alienates swing voters, and has zero chance of happening anyway
No upside, all downside.
And only Congress has the authority to collect any "fees," so that's going nowhere either.
Wow, you couldn’t be more WRONG.
What he has done is make a statement.
The act of making a statement induces various lawyers for the Networks to get riled up and make a fuss to increase their workload and fees. creating the flap is an acceptable ploy.
Your reaction is the desirable equivalent, here.
The result might be some fairness.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained
I haven’t listened to local “news” since ‘93, and national “news” since ‘06, that crap is the reason a large percentage of our population has no clue what’s going on. The funny part being of course, they think they are well informed.
The 1st Amendment doesn’t allow lies to be spread using public airwaves.
After Obozo was sworn in as President, he revoked a law that made it illegal to lie to the American Public.
Since then, the ComDem’s have lied to public, lied before congress and the senate, lied to the World about what they broadcast.
Yes, the old law must be reinstated.
I’d like to know what makes up the 8%. I’ve never heard anything positive on the networks about Trump.
The networks do NOT have licenses for the network and network programming.
They do have licenses for their owned and operated stations almost always in major cities like NY, LA, Chicago, Boston etc. This is where they print their money from local news and retransmission rights. The networks are almost break even at this point with advertising and ratings being what they are.
If you wanted to cripple these propagandists you point out when their major market stations are undergoing renewal and then challenge the practically automatic renewal.
I have never heard of a local station’s license been successfully challenged but the first time it happens the whole shebang of traditional television networks is going to be obliterated. You’re talking about the threat of losing hundreds of millions of dollars from a major market license going POOF!
